Councilwoman hopes to improve council meetings for public’s benefit

In deciding to run for mayor next year, Peachtree City Councilwoman Vanessa Fleisch said she wanted to make sure she got a major accomplishment under her belt before making the commitment.

Middle schoolers tackled water tower construction project

Several employees of the Peachtree City Water and Sewer Authority pitched in recently to help students learn more about engineering water-related projects.

Technical Services Manager Keisha Lisbon Thorpe and General Manager Stephen Hogan joined Brown and Caldwell Engineer Andy Patceg and 24 other volunteers to present the first state model water tower competition earlier this fall.

Middle school students from all over metro Atlanta built model water towers that were judged according to their structural efficiency, cost efficiency, hydraulic functionality, and design ingenuity. Read More»

PTC needs group may pre-test survey

Worries exist over length, clarity of questions

Due to concerns over length and clarity, the Peachtree City needs assessment survey may be taken for a test drive.

PTC police toy drive helping 86 kids

A total of 86 kids in Peachtree City will have a better Christmas thanks to the Light Up the Night toy drive sponsored by the police department.

New PTC eatery denied larger sign

A new restaurant located off Ga. Highway 54 West in Peachtree City will have to remove its sign because it ran afoul of the maximum size of 50 square feet.

The sign for My House restaurant, as measured by city staff, was some 58 square feet whereas the city ordinance limits it to no more than 50 square feet, the city council was told last week.

Representatives of the restaurant said the sign was initially submitted to the sign manufacturing company at 50 square feet, but to include the necessary lighting the size grew a little. Read More»

Senoia set to decrease spending for 2013

The first of two public hearings held Dec. 10 on the Senoia FY 2013 budget came with a proposed 1.25 percent decrease in general fund spending. The budget is expected to be approved at the Dec. 17 meeting. Read More»

Senoia water, sewer rates expected to increase

A change in water and sewer rates is likely coming to Senoia. A proposed increase of 10 percent for water service and 21 percent for sewer service for residential customers, based on average consumption, is designed to make up the difference in system revenue requirements that have suffered during the recession. With the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce moved to the Waterfall office-retail complex on Grady Avenue, there is an opportunity for another group to make use of the first floor of the county’s historic courthouse in downtown Fayetteville.
