Give blood to save lives, donate food to sustain the needy, and have lunch all in one stop at the Senoia United Methodist Church.

The church and the Senoia Optimist Club are co-sponsoring the blood drive on Monday, Feb. 2, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the church’s Fellowship Hall in the back of the church building.

Date for Piedmont Fayette blood drive changes

Donors report on Feb. 11

The Piedmont Fayette Hospital Auxiliary will host the next Red Cross Blood Drive on Wednesday, Feb. 11, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Please note that the blood drive was originally scheduled for Feb. 9, but a change was made.

The event will be held in the 1279 Building, third floor, Conference Room C. To give blood, a donor must be at least 17 years old and weigh at least 110 pounds. To make an appointment visit www.redcrossblood.org and use sponsor key pfh or call 770-719-7098.

I hope the Super Bowl is not a blow-out. I like watching a close game, or seeing a great comeback victory. The Seattle-Green Bay playoff game was a classic. The Seattle Seahawks, plagued by turnovers, were down 19-14 with around four minutes to go.

It was rainy and cold and the Packers had outplayed the Seahawks all afternoon. Then quarterback Russell Wilson led the Seahawks to two dramatic scores and a three-point lead; then the Packers tied it with Mason Crosby’s fifth field goal, sending the game into overtime. Read More»

Marriage celebration event coming to FFUMC Saturday

“Pathways to the Heart … Pathways to Growth,” an informative marriage celebration event for couples of all ages and stages of life, is coming to Fayetteville First United Methodist Church on Jan. 31 from 1 to 8:30 p.m. Childcare is provided at no charge.

Line Creek Baptist to host Jubalheirs in concert Friday

Line Creek Baptist Church will host The Jubalheirs in concert Friday, Jan. 30, at 4 and 7 p.m., at the church on Bob Smith Road in Sharpsburg.

Jubalheirs is a female chorus for ministers of music, organists, pianists and others who are involved in the music programs of Baptist Churches. The group sings under the direction of Jon Duncan, the specialist, music and worship ministries, Georgia Baptist Convention. The varied program consists of hymns, spirituals and anthems.

Joyce Pilch has been commissioned a Stephen Ministry leader at Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church in Peachtree City. She recently attended an intense week of training in Orlando, Fla., to prepare her for her new responsibilities. A member of Christ Our Shepherd since 1999, Pilch is a native of Bangdong, Indonesia. She has served as a Stephen Minister for several years. Providence UMC to host Winshape marriage retreat next week

Providence United Methodist Church will host a marriage retreat, “Wholehearted Marriage,” led by Matt and Nicole Turvey of Winshape Marriage, on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 6 and 7. The retreat is for couples of all ages. The cost is $25 per couple and childcare is included.
