PTCUMC’s Summer Speaker Series runs through July 23

Peachtree City United Methodist Church, 225 Robinson Rd., has kicked off its Summer Speaker Series with a host of speakers and fascinating topics.

Topics center on 1 Timothy 6:12, “Fight the good fight for the true faith. Hold tightly to the eternal life to which God has called you, which you have confessed so well before many witnesses.” (NLT)

FFUMC VBS features Workshop of Wonders theme

Fayetteville First UMC invites the community to Workshop of Wonders, this year’s VBS, June 23 to 27 from 9 a.m to 12:15 p.m.

Children ages three (as of Jan. 1, 2014) through fifth grade are eligible to attend.

“In Workshop of Wonders,” a spokesperson explained, “children will learn what it is to build and imagine with God.”

Activities include lessons, music, recreation, local and global missions, and art.

Father Charles “Chuck” Shores was reinstated to the priesthood in the Charismatic Episcopal Church during a recent service at the Cathedral of Christ the King in Sharpsburg. Shores was originally a minister in the Wesleyan Church prior to being ordained to the priesthood by Bishop Douglas Kessler. Later, under the authority of another bishop, Shores resigned his orders due to matters of conscience. His journeys over the last few years took him to Orthodoxy and then to Anglicanism. Shores has “come home” to the CEC and is assigned as a priest-in-residence at the Cathedral of Christ the King. Read More»

Hopewell UMC to host ‘Inside Out’ VBS

Hopewell United Methodist Church in Tyrone will host a “Living Inside Out” Vacation Bible School, June 16-19, from 9 a.m. until noon. “Living Inside Out” takes a look at the parables Jesus told and teaches how to take the principles from those stories and put them into practice in everyday life. All attendees and their families are invited to participate in Family Night, June 20, from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Heritage Reformed Baptist plans VBS

Heritage Reformed Baptist Church will hold Vacation Bible school June 16-20 from 8:30 a.m. until noon at the church, 150 Lester Rd. next to Cleveland Elementary. Children who have completed kindergarten through those in fifth grade are eligible to attend.

The theme is “Faith Expedition — God’s Treasure Revealed.” Students will travel across time through the lives of Moses, David, Daniel, Matthew, Paul and Silas in a program that incorporates skits, music, hands-on activities, rewards and much more. Read More»

Fayetteville First UMC plans Summer Music Camp in July

Children in the community are invited to “Summer Music Camp 2014: Hymns 4 Kids” at Fayetteville First UMC July 7-11.

Rising kindergarten through rising sixth grade students will explore hymns and faith through instruments, drama, art, and singing with leaders Joan Aycock, Angela Goodwin and Carson Thaxton. New this year — ukulele.

Cost is $60 before June 15 ($70 after) and registration is limited.

CDM to offer evangelism seminar

Christ Discipleship Ministries (CDM) in Fairburn is calling all disciples of Christ to attend a free one-day seminar on evangelism and discipleship Saturday, June 17 from 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. The speaker will be prophet and pastor Timothy Frazier.

Richling-Bowler engagement

Erin Anne Richling engaged to Blake Davis Bowler

Mr. and Mrs. Larry Richling of Omaha, Neb., announce the engagement of their daughter, Erin Anne, to Blake Davis Bowler, son of LTC (ret) and Mrs. Joseph L. Bowler, Jr. of Peachtree City.

Erin is a graduate of Marian High School in Omaha. She is a 2007 graduate of Boston College in Boston, Mass. where she majored in history. She earned her Master of Childhood Education at Pace University in New York City. She currently teaches history at a charter school in Chicago. Read More»
