Scott and Katie Jarrett of Fayetteville announce the birth of their daughter, Jill Madison Jarrett, born Jan. 29, 2010, at Piedmont Fayette Hospital. She weighed 7 lbs. 14 oz. and was 20 1/2 inches long.

Volunteer Opportunities

• The American Cancer Society is seeking volunteers in the Coweta County and Carroll County areas to assist with the Road to Recovery Program. Volunteers will be drivers to assist cancer patients who need transportation to the location for their radiation and/or chemotherapy treatments.The patients involved have no other means to access the treatment that is essential to their recovery. ACC cuts ribbon in Peachtree City

More than 100 people attended the Jan. 26 ribbon cutting for Atlanta Christian College’s new satellite campus in Peachtree City.

Jessie M. Cook Newnan, died Jan. 16, 2010. He was born Jan. 20, 1928 in Coweta County. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Earlie Zachary Cook, four brothers, four sisters, and one child. No services are planned.. Rufus Pritchett Cheaves

Rufus Pritchett Cheaves, Newnan, died Jan. 18, 2010. He was born Oct. 27, 1936. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Bertha Moore Cheaves, and all his siblings. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Lee and Rebecca "Beckie" Sprayberry Ferrell, a brother, Duke Ferrell, and her husband, Harold George Coggin.
