Club gets mayoral update

The Peachtree City Rotary Club continued its longstanding tradition into 2015 recently when Mayor Vanessa Fleisch spoke to the group. For many years, the club has had the city’s mayor as a featured speaker near the start of the year.

Fleisch updated club members on new retail developments for the city, road construction and other plans for the next year.

Girl Scouts volunteer at food bank

Girl Scouts and families volunteer

Helping others, but learning lessons, too

Two local Girl Scout troops -- Brownie Troop #12104 and Daisy Troop #14773 -- recently volunteered at the Midwest Food Bank in Peachtree City.

The girls and their parents bagged 30,000 mini bags of M&M's and Twix candy bars, and over 250 bags of cookies.

The girls not only worked on their math skills, but learned important life lessons about teamwork, sharing the blessings of food for those less fortunate and how to be good community partners.

The food bank serves more than 120 agencies in the local community.
