Margaret Anna Price, 79, of Peachtree City, passed away May 7, 2013.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lyle Price; son Neal Price and granddaughter, Ashley Higginbotham. She is survived by her daughters, Dawn Price of Peachtree City and Noel Snook and her husband, Dr. Steven Snook of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Travis Price of Aiken, SC and Kristin and Derek Higginbotham both of Fayetteville. McIntosh knocked out of baseball playoffs

The McIntosh High School baseball team ended its season Wednesday afternoon as they lost a doubleheader match against the Wolf Pack of Greenbrier High School.
The Chiefs lost 16-1 in the first game and 10-4 in the second game to end their hopes of moving on to the next round in the Georgia High School Association baseball playoffs. Under head coach Brad Campbell, the Chiefs finished the season with the most wins (20-6) in the school’s 32 year history. Read More»

Braelinn students ‘fly’ high at AirTran

The fifth grade Enrichment Students of Braelinn Elementary led by Dr. Mary Lou Goehring and Nance Hudson in Peachtree City have joined over 48,000 students in more than 1,500 classrooms across the country who have “adopted” Southwest Airlines and AirTran Airways pilots, giving the aviators opportunity to mentor students in and around the fifth grade level. Three girls soccer teams headed to Elite 8 Friday night

Fayette’s claim to state soccer supremacy keeps growing as three girls teams advanced to the Elite 8 this week. The McIntosh girls defeated Glynn Academy 5-0 and will host Northview Friday night at 6:30 p.m. The Starr’s Mill’s girls defeated Greenbrier 3-1 and travel to Riverwood Friday for a 7 p.m. start. Whitewater defeated Houston County 5-0 and hosts Allatoona Friday night at 5:30 p.m.

Hopewell to host Chick-N-Q, bake sale, car wash May 18

The community is invited to come and enjoy a barbecue chicken meal at Hopewell United Methodist Church in Tyrone on Saturday, May 18.

Tickets are $8 each and include barbecued chicken, slaw, baked beans, bread, and iced tea. The meal will be prepared and sold by the Methodist Men and proceeds will support their mission efforts.

The senior adult group, Recycled Kids, will sponsor a bake sale during the event.

The Hopewell youth group will wash cars from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The car wash is free but donations will be gladly accepted. Read More»

Cokes Chapel prepares, contributes more than 31,000 meals to stop hunger

On Saturday, April 20, Cokes Chapel United Methodist Church in Sharpsburg  hosted a “Stop Hunger Now” packaging event and prepared 31,320 high protein, nutritious meals for schools and orphanages in developing countries in less than four hours.

The event began at 8:30 a.m. and concluded at 1:30 when the repackaged meals were loaded for transport to their intended final destination.

Living Proof will celebrate 10th anniversary May 19

Members of Living Proof Church, 414 Jenkins Rd., Tyrone, have planned their 10th anniversary celebration for Sunday, May 19, beginning at 9:30 a.m. with the standard Sunday praise and worship services and children and youth programs.

The 10:45 a.m. worship service will include performances by musicians who previously attended Living Proof, speakers who were instrumental in founding and developing the church, a vision for the church’s coming years of praise and service ministry, and a few surprises.
