Studying healing ministry

A 13-week class examining 26 of the New Testament incidences of Jesus’ healing ministry is being taught at Christ the King Church in Sharpsburg. The class is sponsored by the local chapter of the Order of St. Luke the Physician and is taught by the Rev. James C. Taylor of Peachtree City. Thrift shop hits first anniversary

The Second Chance Thrift Shop in Brooks will celebrate its first year of operation on Saturday, June 19.

The community is invited to come by for cookies and lemonade that day.

“Your support of this ministry of Brooks UMC has been phenomenal and we have been able to reach out into the community with Christ’s love because of all the support,” a spokesperson said.

The shop is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and is at 151 McIntosh Road, three miles east of Starrs Mill off Ga. Highway 85 Connector. The church phone number is 770-719-7593. Read More»

Heritage Christian Church will host Winshape C3 day camp

Heritage Christian Church will host Winshape C3 Camp July 12-16 from 7:30 a.m.- 5 p.m. daily. The day camp is open to all students who have completed first through sixth grade. Cost is $179 for a full week of camp. A deposit of $50 is due upon registration.

“C3 combines sports and recreation, arts, Bible study and worship for a truly unforgettable week of life change,” said Tammy Pattison, children’s director at Heritage Christian.

The day camp was first held in 2008. Heritage hosted 382 campers last year, which was the largest WinShape C3 camp ever. Read More»
