Danielle Pamela Cheek engaged to Benjamin James Hunt

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Cheek of Peachtree City announce the engagement of their daughter, Danielle Pamela Cheek, to Benjamin James Hunt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bing Hunt of Marietta.

The bride-to-be is a graduate of McIntosh High school and attended Georgia College and State University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in music therapy. She currently works for Music Therapy Services of Greater Atlanta as a music therapist. Read More»

Yoly Marieth Franco, daughter of Yolanda Marin and Gerson Franco Sr. of Cali, Colombia, and John Aubrey Cole, son of Dr. and Mrs. Frank N. Cole of Fayetteville, announce their engagement and forthcoming marriage.

The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of Maria Agudelo and Gerardo Marin Sr. and Fanny Gutierrez and Noel Franco. She received her bachelor of business administration degree in accounting from both the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana and Georgia State University. Nancy Jean Swanagan and Cameron Scott Heyen were married June 12, 2010, at the Mountain Top Inn Chapel in Pine Mountain. The Rev. James R. Cook performed the ceremony.

Serving the bride as maid of honor and matron of honor were the bride’s daughters, Jennifer Swanagan of Athens, Ga., and Christina Swanagan-Blizzard of Fayetteville. The bride was given away by her son Brian Swanagan of Rome, Ga.

Melissa Sue Clanton and Jonathan Robert Hasel were married June 12, 2010, at Thomasville Road Baptist Church in Tallahassee, Fla. The service was conducted by the Rev. Jerry Thornton and the sand ceremony performed by the Rev. Dennis Rader of Mt. Juliet, Tenn., uncle of the bride.

The bride is the daughter of Chuck and Debbie Clanton of Fayetteville. A graduate of Fayette Christian School in Fayetteville, Truett-McConnell College in Cleveland, Ga. and Florida State University, she is currently a music therapist for Big Bend Hospice in Tallahassee. Read More»

Cosby Birth Announcement

Doug Cosby and Jamie Boykin of Fayetteville announce the birth of their twin daughters on Monday, July 5, 2010, at Southern Regional Hospital in Riverdale. Lily Danielle Cosby was born at 11:12 p.m. and weighed 5 lbs., 9 oz., and Kylie Isabella Cosby was born at 11:13 p.m. and weighed 4 lbs., 13 oz. Grandparents are Ken and Melissa Cosby and Jim and Maggie Boykin.

Lamb Birth Announcement

David and Nicole Lamb of Senoia announce the birth of their daughter, Molly Catherine Lamb, at 8:16 a.m. on July 14, 2010, at Fayette Piedmont Hospital in Fayetteville. Molly weighed 7 lbs., 12 oz. and was 19.75 inches long. Grandparents are Wendell and Gail Lamb of Senoia and JoEllen Goodman and the late Gary Goodman of Carthage, N.Y. Molly was welcomed home by sisters Emma and Whitney.

Notables July 21, 2010

• Amit D Salkar and Erin Paige Ricker of Peachtree City, Ga., and Lauren W. Myer of Fayetteville earned the Doctor of Medicine degree from Mercer University’s School of Medicine during the School’s commencement on May 8 on the University’s Macon campus. Mercer President William D. Underwood conferred the degree.

In all, the University held 10 ceremonies in May in Macon and Atlanta and conferred approximately 1,600 bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees. Read More»

Deane Barrett Ellington, age 84 of Fayetteville and life long resident of Atlanta, born April 20, 1926, passed away July 15, 2010 after a brief illness. Her parents were Bess Sheats and David Frank Barrett. Deane was preceded in death by husbands, Robert S Ellington, Pierce Morris and Marshall Phillips.  She is survived by her daughters, Gayle Gilmore of Vero Beach, FL, Kay Rast of Charlotte, NC, Beth and Frank Hagan of Colts Neck, NJ, stepson, Terry and Cindy Ellington of Dallas, GA, nephew David and Valerie Mayo of Douglasville.
