Sheila Crowe is new pastor at Brooks UMC

The Rev. Sheila Crowe

The Rev. Sheila Crowe has been assigned as pastor of Brooks United Methodist Church, after having served as pastor at Hogansville First Methodist.

The assignment comes following the United Methodist Church’s North Georgia Conference yearly reassignments.

Crowe says she has a passion for families and building the kingdom of God.

She is a graduate of Mercer’s McAfee School of Theology and attended classes in Methodism at Asbury and Emory University. She has been in the ministry for 15 years and is an ordained elder. Read More»

PTCUMC to host July 4 ‘Let Freedom Ring’celebration

The community is invited to a “Let Freedom Ring” celebration at Peachtree City United Methodist Church, Sunday, July 4, at 1:30 p.m., in honor of the signing of the Declaration of Independence and the nation’s 234th birthday.

Several Girl Scout and Boy Scout troops will present the flag to kick off the program. Congressional Resolution Number 25, which established the nationwide ringing of bells at precisely 2 p.m. eastern daylight time, will be read aloud, followed by a reading of The Declaration of Independence. Registration still open for All Saints’ camp

Registration is still open for All Saints Anglican Church’s free Children’s Music Camp set for July 12-16. The theme is “A Week of Praise” with a focus on a variety of music, especially traditional hymns and praise songs. The camp will be held from 9 a.m.- noon. daily, is open all children ages 4-12, and will be held at the church at 225 South Peachtree Parkway.

As part of the potpourri of musical fun, “The Week of Praise” will feature professional guitar instructor Jeff Shephard who will teach many of the elements of music to the children. Read More»

Summit hosts Camp Re-Mix for kids raised in special homes

The Factor Grandparent Raising Grandchildren (GRG) committee at The Summit Church has brought key stakeholders together to provide a grief camp for children being raised in grandparent/relative care homes.

Camp Re-Mix, offered July 16-18, is a three-day, two-night weekend camp for children 7-14 years of age who are living in relative care placement. The Camp experience will include regular camp activities, swimming, hiking, and campfires.

Therapeutic activities include, art, skits, and small group discussion. Read More»

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Bertke of Peachtree City. She is pursuing a Ph.D. in history at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
