PTCUMC will offer ‘Surviving the Holidays’ seminar Tuesday

Peachtree City United Methodist will sponsor a “Surviving the Holidays” seminar Tuesday, Oct. 26, from 7-9 p.m.

The seminar is for both those that have lost a loved one and those that have experienced a divorce. The two seminars will be separate but run at the same time.

“The holiday season is approaching and we are aware of how difficult this time of the year is for those experiencing losses,” a spokesperson said. “This seminar is designed to help those going through these difficult ‘firsts’ to make decisions ahead of time.” Read More»

Olivet will celebrate 19th anniversary October 31

The Olivet Church in Fayetteville will celebrate its 19th anniversary Sunday, Oct. 31 and invites the community to join in the celebration. Special services are planned for each Sunday during the month of October.

Sunday, Oct. 24 will be Church Homecoming; and Sunday, Oct. 31 is the Church Anniversary. Service times are 7:45, 9:30, and 11:15 a.m.

“Our ministry leadership is working diligently to make our anniversary celebration second to none,” a spokesperson said. “Everyone, regardless of their religious background is welcome to attend services.” Read More»

Public servant appreciation lunch
On Sunday, Oct. 31, from noon to 2 p.m. members of Edgefield Baptist Church in Fayetteville will show appreciation to those who serve as public servants in Fayette county (local fire, police, sheriff and EMS officials) by providing them with a complimentary lunch in the George Porter Fellowship Hall. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Adrian Jones of Fayetteville. She is the granddaughter of Jessie Marie Bishop and the late Max W. After meeting on a blind date, they were married in Bay Minette, Ala in 1960. Gracie’s Closet, the clothing and supply resource center of Fayette Youth Protection Homes, Inc. Richard Harold McNair, 73, formerly of Fayetteville

Richard Harold McNair, 73, formerly of Fayetteville, died October 15, 2010.

He retired from the Georgia Army National Guard. Mr. McNair worked 13 years for Boise Cascade and then was a 17-year employee of Fayette County Board of Education as a maintenance supervisor.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Jeanette McNair; son James R. McNair of Shalimar , FL ; and brother Howard Pierce McNair and wife Anne of Florence, SC. Read More»

Lady Chiefs JV Volleyball dominate this season with 24-1 record

The McIntosh Lady Chiefs Junior Varsity Volleyball team ended their season in style by going undefeated at the Columbus Playdate. They continued their strong play by defeating Shaw High School, Columbus High School, OLA, and Harris County twice on their way to a 5-0 record. In addition to winning the Columbus Playdate, they also won the Fayette County Sweet 16 Tournament earlier this season with a similar undefeated record of 6-0. Mr. Royce Richardson, 95, of Fayetteville

Mr. Royce Richardson, 95, of Fayetteville, died October 16, 2010.

He retired after 22 years with Eastern Airlines, and he always loved to farm.

He is survived by his wife of 74 years Martha Mask Richardson of Fayetteville; four sons Eugene & Kim Richardson of Fayetteville, Jerry Glenn Richardson of Gay, GA, David & Ann Richardson of Fayetteville, and Ronnie & Jenny Richardson of Fayetteville; seven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; one brother and three sisters.
