The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Bertke of Peachtree City. She is pursuing a Ph.D. in history at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Nicholas Abelein, a 2004 graduate of Starr’s Mill High School and a 2008 graduate of University of Georgia, graduated from Officer Candidate School (OCS) class 15-10.  Graduation was at Newport, Rhode Island on May 28.  He is currently attending Surface Warfare Officers School (SWOS) in Newport and will be reporting to USS O’Kane (DDG-77) homeported in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. The Children's Village is in need of child sponsors

The Children’s Village at Christian City is a residential, family centered program which cares for abandoned, abused, and neglected children who have no other safe place to go.  The children live in cottages with full time house parents on the Christian City campus located in Union City. Most of the children come to The Children’s Village with nothing but the clothing on their backs, meaning the bulk of financial support for providing the basics comes from caring individuals in the community, churches, businesses and civic groups.   Read More»

Bea’s number one love in life was her large community of friends and family. The body was cremated and friends and family gathered for a memorial on June 26 at her church.
