Mrs. Linda Cranford Harrison, 71, of Brooks and formerly of Jonesboro, died May 15, 2010.

She was born and raised on a farm in Arab, AL to the late Gurtice and Arah Cranford. She moved to Jonesboro, GA after her marriage to John M. Harrison. She enjoyed fishing, cooking, and caring for others. Her greatest joy came from her three grandchildren and her extended family. Read More»

Jeffrey Monroe Kimbro passed away on May 3, 2010 at the age of 24.

He was born February 24, 1986 in Fontana, CA to Tony and Pam Kimbro.

Jeff attended Peachtree City schools and graduated from Starr's Mill High School in 2004. Growing up, he attended Carriage Lane Presbyterian Church and was active in the youth group. SFM yard sale starts Friday

Square Foot Ministry (SFM), the local non-profit organization, will take donations through Friday morning for its annual yard sale, coming up this weekend, May 14-15. The yard sale will be in the parking lot and Family Life Center of Fayetteville First United Methodist Church (FFUMC) in downtown Fayetteville from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Hopewell to host chicken barbecue, yard sale

Hopewell United Methodist Church in Tyrone will hold its annual Chick-N-Que Saturday, May 22, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets are $7.50 each.

The meal consists of half a barbecued chicken, slaw, baked beans, bread, and iced tea. There will also be a bake sale where desserts may be purchased to go with the meal.

A community-wide yard sale will also be held that day. Spaces may be reserved for $10. Space under the pavilion is limited and reserved on a first-come-first-served basis. Read More»

Holly Grove celebrates 113 years

The Holly Grove Church family will celebrate its 113th Anniversary this year. The celebration will begin with a Fun Fest on Saturday, May 15. The day will consist of a yard sale and breakfast starting at 8 a.m., followed by games and activities for the children, fish fry, bake sale, and live entertainment.

FUMC’s Seasoned Singers to perform Sunday

Fayetteville First United Methodist Church’s Seasoned Singers, a group of older adults, will perform at the 8:30 and 11 a.m. services at the church this Sunday, May 16.

The group meets each Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. in Room B-225 for fun, laughter, singing and fellowship. The next collection the group will work on will be a patriotic collection.

The group will perform at both Azalea Estates and LaFayette Nursing Homes in late June or early July, dates to be announced.
