Mrs. Jo Frances Bowers, 81, of Fayetteville, passed away on Wednesday, August 4, 2010.

Mrs. Bowers is survived by her husband, Max Alvin Bowers, Sr., sons, Max Bowers, Jr. and his wife Jane of Tarpon Springs, FL, and son Wade Bowers and his wife Angela Bowers of Sharpsburg; daughter, Elizabeth Beroset of Fayetteville; and grandchildren, Lawton, Emma, Brian, Michael, Hannah, Evan and Katherine. Mr. Gordon Ray Carlson, 79, formerly of Atlanta and Savannah

Mr. Gordon Ray Carlson, formerly of Atlanta and Savannah, Georgia, passed away August 4th in Atlanta at the age of 79.

Mr. Carlson was a loving father, grandfather and a friend to many.

Mr. Carlson was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1931. As a young adult, he moved to Miami and then to Atlanta in 1959 to manage a bowling center for All American Bowling Corporation. He became Executive Vice President of Operations, and by the time he retired in 1985 the company owned and operated 46 bowling centers across the Southeast; he had a hand in all of them. Read More»

Last fling before school year

There was fun all around last Saturday at Shamrock Park, as kids of all ages turned out for the “Back to School Bash.” There were plenty of rides, games and activities as well as plenty of food for everyone who worked up an appetite. Pictured above are some of the kids trying their hand at catching one of the many free frisbees and other gifts that were tossed into their waiting arms.

Healthfield Hospice holding month-long food drive

She was a native to Fayette County and an active member of Fayette First Baptist Church.

Mr. Terry Ray Bruce, 53, of Peachtree City died July 30, 2010.

He is survived by his daughter Jessie Boozer and her husband Mike; grandchildren Desiree, Michael and Trevor, all of Hampton; mother Nell Anders of Peachtree City.

Memorial services will be held Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home (Peachtree City). The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
