Truett-McConnell choir to perform

The college choir from Truett- McConnell College in Cleveland, Ga., will join members of the Flat Creek Baptist combined youth and adult choirs for a performance the weekend of March 19 and 20. Ben Caston will direct.

Dr. Emir Caner, president at Truett-McConnell, will be the guest speaker at the morning worship service on Sunday, March 20.

Flat Creek Baptist is on Flat Creek Trail between Ga. Highway 54 and Tyrone Road.

Unite 11 service is this Friday
The Eleventh Hour Call Church in Fayetteville will host its monthly Unite 11 service Friday, Feb. 25, at 7 p.m. at the Harvest Christian Community Center (HCCC). This month’s speaker will be the Rev. Glen B. Allen of Fayetteville’s Destiny Christian Center International. The series is designed to unite pastors and congregations in the greater Fayette County area through joint worship and powerful preaching. Kimberly Michelle Telemaque of Fayetteville and Harold Eugene Jones were married on Feb.11, 2011. Judge Joe Tinsley conducted the private ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs Powell of Houston, Texas.

The groom is the son of Mrs. Jones of Houston, Texas.

Linda Hearon of Fayetteville was maid of honor. Flowergirls were Daysha and Damaya Telemaque of Fayetteville. Demarcus Telemaque of Fayetteville served as best man.

Mr. and Mrs. Jones took a wedding trip to Orlando, Fla.

Maci Kayte Allen

Paul and Mandy Allen of Fayetteville announce the birth of their daughter, Maci Kayte. She was born on January 27, 2011 at 3:29pm at Piedmont Fayette Hospital. Maci weighed 7lbs, 7oz and was 19.75 inches long.

Grandparents are Kay Croxton of Fayetteville, David Croxton of McDonough, and Margaret & Phillip Allen of Amelia Island, Florida. Great grandmother is Mamie McLean of Fayetteville.

Walter Eugene “Gene” Pierce, age 72, of Fayetteville

Walter Eugene “Gene” Pierce, age 72, of Fayetteville, died Friday, February 18, 2011.

Mr. Pierce was a member of the Georgia Outsiders Car Club and enjoyed attending the club meetings. He also enjoyed classic cars, hot rods and attending car shows, swap meets and auctions. However, he mostly enjoyed spending time with his family and boating on Lake Jackson.

Mr. Pierce was the founder and former owner/operator of the Atlanta Steel and Equipment Company of Jonesboro. Read More»

Mr. James W. Bailey, 89, of Fayetteville

Mr. James W. Bailey, 89, of Fayetteville, died February 19, 2011.

He was born in the Starr’s Mill community in 1922 to the late Sam and Mamie Bailey. He served in both the US Merchant Marines and the US Navy during World War II. He retired in 1973 from Fort McPherson. He was also a member of Fayetteville First United Methodist Church .

He is survived by his sister-in-law Omie Lee Bailey of Fayetteville ; seven nieces and nephews: Sam Jones, Janelle Taylor, Larry Jones, Bobby Kerlin, Tom Kerlin, Cheryl Miller, and Richard Bailey. Read More»

Mrs. Shirley Marie Brown, 85, of Fayetteville

Mrs. Shirley Marie Brown, of Fayetteville, passed away on February 18, 2011 at the age of 85.

Mrs Brown was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who was a quiet supporter, and nurtured her family in all aspects of their lives. Shirley enjoyed family time, whether playing cards, sewing for her family and others, dancing, or playing golf, she always knew how to make life fun. She was a member of the St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church for over 42 years where she participated in the Women’s Circle and at one time taught public speaking classes. Read More»
