Mrs. Bertha Moon, 84, of Fayetteville

Mrs. Bertha Moon, 84, of Fayetteville, died January 22, 2011.

She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband James Moon and her daughter Wanda Moon.

She is survived by her son David & Brenda Moon, Sr. of Athens, GA and daughter Janet Behrens of Fayetteville; grandsons David & Amy Moon, Jr. and Joe & Julie Moon, as well as five great-grandchildren, all of Athens; sister Helen Abbott of Fayetteville and brother Bobby & Barbara Rogers of Acworth. Mrs. Susan Katherine Rosa, 88, of Brooks, passed away on January 17, 2011.

Mrs. Rosa moved to Georgia from Florida in 1994. After her son passed away, she began crocheting blankets and newborn caps for the Project Linus. When she wasn’t spending time with her family, she loved reading and playing cards.

Several years ago, I shared one of my more embarrassing moments with our Sunday evening congregation. I locked my keys in my car. In all of my years of driving, and of all the other dumb things I’ve ever done, I’ve prided myself in the fact that I’ve never locked my keys in my car (I have to admit I’ve done it one other time since). Mike Speck Trio to appear in Newnan

Two local Newnan churches, Westside Baptist Church and New Lebanon Baptist Church, will host the Mike Speck Trio when it comes to Newnan Sunday, Jan. 23.

PTC UMC will start new GriefShare session Jan. 20

Peachtree City United Methodist Church will begin its new series of GriefShare meetings on Thursday, Jan. 20 at 6:30 p.m. in Room 308 at 225 Robinson Rd.

This is a support group for persons experiencing grief following the death of a friend or family member.

The cost is $15 dollars for workbooks. Scholarships are available.

The group meets for 14 weeks and no preregistration is required.
