Garner anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. Eugene H. Garner

Mr. and Mrs. Eugene H. Garner (Dot and Gene) of Fayetteville celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary Sept. 5, 2010. They married Sept. 5, 1940 in Atlanta at the ages of 19 and 18 years old.

The Garners now reside in Fayetteville, but, since Gene worked for the air force as a quality control inspector, they have moved several times over the years. They lived in Forest Park, Marietta, Roswell, N.M., Garrison, N.D. and in Titusville, Fla. where the Air Force was hired by NASA to work on missles. Jana Gale Easley, daughter of Ms. Gwenda Easley and Mr. and Mrs. Larry Easley of Atlanta, and T.J. Lee, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Lee of Fayetteville, announce their engagement and forthcoming marriage.

The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of Tommie Strider Sr. and the late Mrs. Janice Strider, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Easley. She attended Northgate High School and the University of Georgia, where she received her bachelor’s degree in speech communications in 2005. Terry Lynn Long, Jr., age 27

Mr. Terry Lynn Long, Jr. (TJ) passed away Monday, September 6, 2010. TJ was 27 yrs old and attended Fayette County High School. He had been a quadriplegic since 2005. Mr. Terry Lynn Long, Jr. is survived by a daughter Bianca Garza and son Zachary Shae Sontimer. Mother, Sandra Goza Lyle and father Terry Lynn Long Sr. Sisters Christa Lyle McConnell and Faith Lyle Felth. Preceded in death brother Jason Lyle. Check with C.J. Sharing Ramadan Fast with the Islamic Center in Fayetteville

The Islamic Community is halfway through their holy month of Ramadan. It is also the ninth month in its calendar. In the year 2010 it extends from August 11th through September 9th.

As has been done for the past nine years, the ICCA Community Center in Fayetteville has shared one of its fast days with those in the community.

Members of Carriage Lane Prebyterian Church, PCA, in Peachtree City, celebrated the Rev. Dr. W. Douglas Griffith’s 20th anniversary as their senior pastor on Sunday, August 15. Local project, ‘Jesus Feast’ continues through Sept. 18

The Jesus Feast, a project focusing on the miracles of Jesus, will continue through Sept. 18.

Individuals are encouraged to spend 40 days focusing on Jesus, from Aug. 10 until The Day of Atonement, Saturday, Sept. 18.

Local radio station J93.3 will read one miracle each day at 2:40 p.m. The project will conclude with a community service at the Villages Amphitheater in Fayetteville on the final day, Sept. 18.

GreekFest 2010 includes Greek dancing lessons

St. Christopher Hellenic Orthodox Church of Peachtree City will host its 6th Annual Building Fundraiser, GreekFest 2010, Saturday, Sept. 18 at the Seymour Hangar at Falcon Field in Peachtree City.

Greek dancing lessons will be offered along with live music and dancing. Appetizers will be served at 6:30 p.m. followed by dinner at 7:30.
