Tyrone’s Herobox non-profit organization will get some recognition this week thanks to ARCA Driver Garrett Smithley of Peachtree City will will be making his debut on the circuit in Pocono. The Herobox logo is on the hood of Smithley’s ride in the race; Smithley’s Chevy Impala is prepared and operated by Creation-Cope Racing, which donated the space for Herobox, which prepares specialized care packages for American troops overseas. June Faulkenburg, age 90

June Faulkenburg, originally of Durango, Colo. passed away at Governor’s Glen Assisted Living on June 3, 2013.

Services will be held at Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville, Ga.at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 5, 2013. The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. prior to the service.

June was born on June 26, 1922 near Clarinda, Iowa the eleventh child of Charles and Sarah Downing. She graduated from Clarinda High School in 1939 and worked at Iowa power and light in Clarinda four years before marrying Art Faulkenburg of Fruita, Colo. on March 8, 1947.  Read More»

Mr. Donnie Poss of Fayetteville passed away May 30, 2013.

He is survived by his parents, Tommy and Charlotte Poss of Fayetteville; daughter, Dana Morris and her husband Jeff of Fayetteville; son, Dusty Poss and his wife Amanda of Grantville; brother, Chuck Poss of Peachtree City; grandchildren, Kimberly, Kaitlyn, Kelsey and Kadyn.

Memorial services will be held Thursday, June 6, 2013 at 5 p.m. at Harps Crossing Baptist Church with Rev. Alan Parker and Rev. Dennis Watson officiating.

Mrs. Isabelle B. Thoman, 94, of Fayetteville passed away Saturday June 1, 2013.

Mrs. Thoman was preceded in death by her husband Stanley B. Thoman.

She is survived by her children, Joan Neeld and her husband Paul of Peachtree City, Barbara Moyer of Tamarac, Fla.; Bruce Thoman of Peachtree City; 7 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; brothers, Conly Brooks, Jr. of New Jersey, John Brooks of Pennsylvania.

Darren James Smith, 53, of Fayetteville

Darren James Smith, 53, of Fayetteville, passed away Saturday, May 11, 2013 from complications arising from ALS, after suffering for 10 years but never giving into it.

He was born March 16, 1960 in Kenner, La. to William Frank Smith and Margherita Smith; siblings, Denise Cain, Karen Lewis and Judy Moore.

Darren worked for the Tiburon Corporation managing resorts but began his career working for Hilton Hotels Corporation followed by Nobel House Management Corporation.

Her picture in the paper depicted her as a beautiful young lady. Bright eyes, cheerful countenance, a mischievous smile. Kirby was a good kid from a good, middle class family just like the families in our community. Her driver’s license was only four days old. She and about 40 other classmates from Shiloh High School in Gwinnett County were partying one Friday night several years ago.
