Edgefield will host Valentine dinner
The Edgefield Church Family invites the entire community to join them on Saturday, Feb. 12, at 6 p.m. for their “Taste of Italy” Valentine Dinner in the George Porter Fellowship Hall. Admission is $30 for couples and $15 for singles. The event will feature live music and great fellowship. Edgefield is at 140 Church St. in downtown Fayetteville. The bride is the daughter of Douglas and Lynda Woods of Peachtree City. She is the granddaughter of the late Byron and Rachel Woods, of Hapeville, and the late Armp Rafferty and Margaret Rafferty of Owensboro, Ky.

The American Legion Fayette County Post 105 announces the results of their 2011 Oratorical “Constitutional Speech” Contest.  Open to high school students across Fayette County for scholarship money, each contestant delivers their own 8 to 10 minute prepared oration dealing with the US Constitution. 

Next, they present a 3 to 5 minute short speech on one of four possible topics dealing with selected amendments to our Constitution.  Read More»

Members of Fine Arts And Crafts Entrepreneurs (FAACE) hosted their first annual “Art With Heart” show benefiting The Children’s Village at Christian City. Art enthusiasts came out to enjoy this wonderful event featuring paintings, pottery, jewelry, and fiber art created by local artisans. Over $450.00 was raised through love offerings and sales of donated pieces by artists for the boys and girls who live in the cottages at The Children’s Village. Read More»

PTC library hosting poetry contest

To celebrate National Poetry Month (April, 2011), the Friends of the Peachtree City Library association is sponsoring a poetry contest.

The contest is open to both published and unpublished authors. Cash prizes (minimum $50) will be awarded in two categories: students (enrolled in high school or less than 18) and adults (high school graduate or older than 18).

Mr. William “Micky” Liles, Jr., 41, formerly of Fayetteville

Mr. William “Micky” Liles, Jr., 41, of Hampton and formerly of Fayetteville, died February 5, 2011.

He is survived by his children Christopher Vaughn Liles and Whitney Liles; their mother Karen Liles; parents Bill & Lynn Liles, Sr.; sister Mindy & David Oliver and sister Lisa Place; grandmother Virginia Gerken; nieces Desirae and Ronda.

A private graveside service for the family will be held Tuesday morning. The family will gather Tuesday afternoon from 12:00 to 2:00 PM to celebrate Micky’s life at the funeral home.
