The parents of Susan Williams and Dustin Williams announce the couple’s engagement and upcoming marriage.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Edward Williams of Phoenix, Ariz. and Beth Williams of Longmont, Colo. She is a 2002 Graduate of Poudre High School in Fort Collins, Colo. She earned a public health degree from American Military University in 2010 and will complete her master’s degree in public health in May of 2011. Mr. Arthur Brooke Ballard, Sr., age 91, passed away Wednesday, February 2, 2011. Mr. Ballard was born Sept. 1, 1919 in Fulton County.

Mr. Ballard was a long-time member of The Rock Baptist Church in Fayetteville.

He was preceded in death by his son, Arthur B. Ballard, Jr. and is survived by his wife of 72 years, Dolly Ballard of Fayetteville; sons, William Richard (Bill) Ballard and his wife, Betty of Tucker; Mark Ballard and his wife, Joy of Peachtree City; daughter, Jeannie Ballard Wright of Fayetteville; 12 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and 3 on the way. George William Bishop, age 91, of Fayetteville

George William Bishop, age 91, of Fayetteville, died at Henry County Medical Center on February 11, 2011.

He was born June 13, 1919 in Aucilla, FL, the son of George Thomas Bishop and Alice Eva Anderson Bishop. Mr. Bishop was preceded in death by his sister Vera Bishop Jones. Mr. Bishop was retired from Delta Airlines and he had a septic tank business for many years in the Fayette County area. He was a veteran of World War II serving in Okinawa. Scouting for Food in PTC turns up tasty treats for needy

Boy Scout Troop 75, under the direction of Scoutmaster Nigel Hampton and chartered by Peachtree City United Methodist Church, show off their haul in Scouting for Food on Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011. Scouts and adult leaders canvassed the Peachtree City Kedron communities doing their “Good Turn Daily,” in an effort to collect over 700 items to benefit The Real Life Center in Tyrone. F'ville American Legion Post presented flag flown in Iraq

Captain Greg Adams, U.S. Navy (R) and a member of The American Legion, Fayette County Post 105, recently returned from duty in Iraq and made a presentation to his post of a U.S. flag that flew in Iraq, dedicated to Post 105. Accepting the flag is Denny Leander, Post Commander. The flag will be displayed in the Log Cabin in Fayetteville, the home of Post 105. The post meets the second Monday of each month. Valentine’s Day marks the 46th anniversary of the day Christian City in Union City opened the first cottage to eight little boys who were without a home. Founders thought that Valentine’s Day, a day set aside to celebrate love, would be the perfect time to launch their vision of providing love and a safe, warm home to children without a place to live. Mr. Walker was a member of Christ Church at Whitewater and also the Masonic Lodge. Mr. Walker also served his country during WWII in the U.S. Navy.
