Fitzgibbon - birth

Scotty and Heidi Fitzgibbon of Fayetteville announce the birth of their son, Asher Daniel, on Nov. 16, 2010. He was born at Piedmont Fayette hospital, weighing 8 lbs. 7 oz. Grandparents are Gary and Becky Fitzgibbon of Jackson, Scott and Sally Simon of Peachtree City, and Ken Webb of Halls, Tenn.

Linda Zaporski, 60, of Fayetteville

Linda Zaporski, 60, of Fayetteville, GA died January 16, 2011.

Linda was born in Antigo, Wisconsin and received a bachelor’s degree in education. She was a teacher with the Fayette County School System.

Melba O’Quinn Purcell, 86, of Fayetteville

Melba O’Quinn Purcell, 86, of Fayetteville, went to be with the Lord and her Savior on January 16, 2011, from complications of pneumonia.

Melba was born in Adel, Cook County, Georgia on January 14, 1925 to the late Serena Iowa and Willie Washington O’Quinn. After graduating from business school, she moved to College Park, Georgia, and began her secretarial career with Delta Air Lines, Inc. It was there that she met her husband of 51 years, Carroll Hires Purcell. They married in November, 1959, and lived in East Point. They moved to Fayetteville in 1981. Read More»

Inez Jones Pye, 98, of Fayetteville died January 15, 2011.

Mrs. Pye was born in Tyrone May 26, 1912 to Willie & Daisy Jones where she was raised and lived until she married William Pye in August 1931, and moved to Fayetteville and has lived here since. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband of 60 years.

Mrs. Haruko “Sue” Newhouse, 88, of Jonesboro

Mrs. Haruko “Sue” Newhouse, 88, of Jonesboro, passed away on January 10, 2011.

Mrs. Newhouse was born in Kauai, Hawaii. Her college career was interrupted when she was detained in an Interment Camp in 1941. After her release, she returned to Hawaii and began working for the US Government. As a teletypist, she received the news of Japan ’s surrender, ending WWII. Timothy James Cessna, Jr., 32, of Peachtree City

Timothy James Cessna, Jr., 32, of Peachtree City and Fayetteville, GA , formerly of Caro, Michigan where he resided for many years with his family, passed away December 21, 2010 in a house fire on Scatterfoot Drive where he lived with three others. He was overcome with smoke inhalation.

Cessna worked for three and a half years as the general manager of the Peachtree City Mellow Mushroom Pizzeria. He also worked at the Brick in Ohio and Brentwood Bowling Alley in Caro, MI for several years. He was a hard worker and loved by so many people that he touched. Read More»
