Fayette family seeks help after house fire

For Ronnie and Brenda Mask it is a difficult matter of starting over. The Fayette County couple had been slowly making a number of renovations to an old house in Meriwether County they bought nearly 10 years ago until the house burned to the ground in early October. Without insurance until the electric meter could be turned on, the couple have begun the slow process of starting to rebuild from scratch on what was to be their new home. Read More»

Orbin D. Howell, Jr., died Tuesday, October 19, 2010, ten days short of his 90th birthday. Funeral services were held Friday, October 22, 2010 at 11:00AM at First Presbyterian Church in Macon with the Reverend Chip Miller and the Reverend John Kinser officiating. Burial followed at Macon Memorial Park.

Mr. Howell was born in Macon, GA to the late Orbin D. and Annie Dean Howell. He was also predeceased by his loving wife of 59 years, Virginia G. Howell. Read More»

Rolling Hills youth group collects food for the needy

Several members of the youth group from Rolling Hills Baptist Church descended on the Lakeside subdivision in Fayetteville Oct. 24 to collect food in support of needy families in Fayette County. All the food collected was donated to the Real Life Center in Tyrone to stock its food pantry. The food drive took place over two Sundays; the first to distribute flyers and donation bags, and the second to collect the filled bags. Read More»

Shop FFUMC’s Christmas Marketplace this Saturday

The 21st annual Christmas Marketplace will be held Nov. 6, from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the Fayetteville First United Methodist Church’s Family Life Center in Fayetteville. The event is hosted by the United Methodist Women and will include more than 60 unique vendors, children’s clothing consignment, large bric-a-brac sale and homemade bake sale. Proceeds support church missions.

Donated items are still being accepted and may be dropped off at the church, 175 East Lanier Ave. (Ga. Highway 54) in downtown Fayetteville. Read More»
