Another successful Southern Crescent Alzheimer’s Memory Walk

Under beautiful autumn skies in October approximately 1,000 participants from seven counties on Atlanta’s southside (Clayton, Coweta, Fayette, Fulton, Henry, Spalding and Meriwether) enjoyed a 5K stroll along Peachtree City’s path system in recognition of the 11th Annual Southern Crescent Alzheimer’s Memory Walk.

After tabulating all donations, including sponsor, individual, team and in-kind contributions, the final result was $197,941. The total amount raised for the Alzheimer’s Association by the walks in Peachtree City over the past 11 years is an impressive $1,926,284. Read More»

Volunteers needed to extend Mule Rock Creek Trail at Line Creek Nature Area

Join fellow nature lovers and local Scouts on Saturday, Nov. 20, at 10 a.m. to help improve the Mule Rock Trail at Line Creek Nature Area, which is managed by Southern Conservation Trust.

Scout Garrick Larson has chosen to improve and extend a severely eroded, dangerous trail that leads down to the Mule Rock, one of the most interesting features at the popular nature preserve, located off Ga. Highway 54 at the Coweta County line. This project will qualify Garrick as an Eagle Scout and for the prestigious William T. Hornaday award for conservation service. Read More»

Young gospel singer to appear at Flat Creek Sunday morning

Logan Smith, the 13-year-old gospel singing sensation from Covington, will appear in concert at Flat Creek Baptist Church Sunday morning, Nov. 14 at 10:45 a.m.

Logan began singing at the age of seven and has appeared with the Gaither Homecoming Tour many times. He recorded his first CD, “The Journey Begins,” at the age of 10 and has since recorded several more.

The Charter Members of Word of God Lutheran Church in Peachtree City have announced their affiliation with the recently formed denomination North American Lutheran Church (NALC). The congregation will also have membership with Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ (LCMC). Special holiday GriefShare program will be offered tonight

“Surviving The Holidays” is a special GriefShare seminar offered by Holy Trinity Catholic Church to help those dealing with grief during the holidays.

“No matter how long it’s been, grief can make the holidays a painful time,” a spokesperson said.

The program will be offered Wednesday, Nov. 10, from 7-9 p.m. and Friday, Nov. 12 from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Church, 101 Walt Banks Road in Peachtree City.

‘Ladybugs’ at Church of Christ surprise pollworkers with meals on election day

Voters coming into Precinct 14 were greeted with delicious smells coming from the kitchen of Fayetteville Church of Christ on Redwine Road on election day. The workers were surprised with coffee and cinnamon rolls for breakfast as well as soups and salad for lunch and dinner.

The Ladybugs (Ladies Better Understanding God through Service) of Fayetteville Church of Christ fixed and served meals for the election workers last week. The Ladybugs is a group of young ladies who do service projects throughout the year. Read More»

Griefshare for the holidays seminar planned at Fayetteville First Baptist

Fayetteville First Baptist Church will host a free seminar entitled, “GriefShare: Surviving the Holidays” Tuesday, Nov. 16, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall of the church’s worship center, 205 Stonewall Ave. (one block from the Fayette County Courthouse), Fayetteville.

Childcare will be provided if needed.

The seminar is for those facing the holidays after a loved one’s death and features practical suggestions and reassurance through video interviews with counselors, grief experts, and others who have experienced this particular type of grief. Read More»
