JC Booth Beta Club students have been making friendship bracelets with all proceeds going to the Fayette County Animal Shelter. PTC Kiwanis golf tournament set for this Wednesday

On Wednesday, April 20 the Kiwanis Club of Peachtree City will sponsor its 22nd Annual Spring Golf Tournament at Planterra Ridge Golf Club. In addition to receiving numerous “give-aways” participants in the 4-Person Scramble Format will compete for $2,200 in prize money, plus try their luck for outstanding Hole-In-One prizes. A putting contest and silent auction will also be held. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at 10:30 a.m. Box lunches will be provided. American Legion Post 50 helps put old Old Glories to rest

American Legion Post 50 dedicated a Flag Retirement Box by the Veteran’s Memorial at Peachtree City City Hall on Thursday. The box is available for all citizens to deposit their old U.S. flags for proper retirement. PTCPD hosting junior police academy in June

This June the Peachtree City Police Department will again host a Junior Police Academy, a week-long and hands-on peek into police work for local students between 12 and 17 years old.

The academy will provide basic information about the police profession and the daily operations of the Peachtree City Police Department. Participants will have the chance to take part in hands-on training in many aspects of law enforcement, including a ride-along with an officer. Read More»

Team places second in Publix Brand Challenge

They were already winners having been selected as one of the top three teams in the nation to pitch their employment marketing ideas to Publix Supermarket corporate executives.

Whitewater High’s Yanna Banks and Lia Poulson took second place in the DECA/Publix Brand Champion Challenge following their presentation on March 29 at the Publix headquarters in Lakeland, Florida. They were the only team from Georgia in the competition. Read More»

Girl Scouts stand up for clean kids

Girl Scout Cadette Troop 19341 of Service Unit 618 is collecting travel size hygiene items to benefit Stand Up for Kids, a center that serves homeless teenagers in Metro Altanta. The Girl Scouts are collecting items such as travel size shampoo, conditioner, soap, combs, brushes, etc., to create toiletry packets. The packets will be given to Stand Up for Kids, which serves more than 300 kids ages 8-18. The center offers kids a safe place to shower, do laundry, perhaps get a meal, and connect with other kids.
