Mr. Kenneth Dale Crittenden, 49, of Hampton, passed away on February 11, 2011.

Mr. Crittenden is survived by his mother Sarah Hester; brothers, Marvin Crittenden and his wife Penny, Danny Crittenden, and Ricky Crittenden and his wife Pam.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 17, 2011 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville, with Pastor Ken Magness officiating. Burial will follow at Banks Cemetery. Mr. Robert “Bob” John Bales, 85, of Fayetteville

Mr. Robert “Bob” John Bales, 85, of Fayetteville, passed away on February 11, 2011.

Mr. Bales was a WWII survivor of the Normandy invasion and went ashore at Omaha Beach. He later served under General G.S. Patton, Jr. during the occupation of Berlin. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star and Purple Heart.

Church of Nativity youth spaghetti dinner is tonight

Young people at the Episcopal Church of the Nativity will serve a spaghetti dinner Wednesday, Feb. 16, to raise funds for a youth mission trip in June.

The benefit event is billed as “Mama Rita’s Italian Kitchen” in honor of the Rev. Rita Henault, rector of the parish. Serving will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the common room of the educational building of the church, located at 130 Antioch Road, just off Georgia Route 92, south of downtown Fayetteville. Read More»

The United Methodist Men at Peachtree City United Methodist Church are now taking orders for their annual fertilizer and pine straw sales. Delivery will be Saturday, March 5 and Saturday, March 12.

For the last 32 years the Peachtree City United Methodist Men have been selling fertilizer, lime and pinestraw to help various charities and ministries. This year a complete army of men, more than 100, are ready for the door to door campaign. Chairman of the event is Butch Hill. Read More»

Children’s ministry at Christian City celebrates 46th anniversary

Valentine’s Day marked the 46th anniversary of the day Christian City opened the first cottage to eight little boys who were without a home.

“Founders thought that Valentine’s Day, which is a day set aside to celebrate love, would be the perfect time to launch their vision of providing love and a safe, warm home to children without a place to live,” a spokesperson said. Read More»

Healing conference set for March 4, 5 at Christ the King
