These Peachtree City children sold mistletoe on Christmas Eve at the Braelinn Kroger store, with all donations going to the Salvation Army. They received $263 which they stuffed into the big red bucket located at the store. PTC’s St. Paul Lutheran will offer new support group in January

Beginning in January, St. Paul Lutheran Church in Peachtree City will offer “Living Free,” a supportive community for people and families experiencing life-controlling issues.

Introductory meetings begin in January on Sunday mornings from 9:30-10:30 a.m.

Following the introduction, groups will meet Thursday evenings from 7-8:30 p.m.

Mrs. Margo Cruthird Smith, 51, of Fayetteville, GA, passed away on December 24, 2010 following a valiant battle with breast cancer.

Margo attended Chicago, IL public schools and earned her undergraduate degree in accounting at Florida A & M University. She had a successful career as a certified public accountant including six years with Delta Air Lines. Blood drive next Wednesday at Holy Trinity

A blood drive is being conducted at Holy Trinity Catholic Church of Peachtree City. Donors will be received in Loreto Hall on Wednesday, Dec. 29 from 12-6 p.m. For convenience, appointment times may be scheduled by calling Dan Law at 770.631.6779 but walk-ins are also welcome. Holy Trinity Catholic Church is located at 101 Walt Banks Road which is the intersection of Walt Banks Road and GA Highway 54. Through 19 presidents, and 2 world wars, the centenarian’s secret: ‘Learn to adapt’

Rowena Pickens laughs easily. At 101 years old (Rowena turns 102 this Friday, Christmas Eve), why waste time doing anything else? As she says, she “has had a good, full life,” but she doesn’t show any signs of slowing down any time soon either.

Theodore Roosevelt was president when she was born; 18 more presidents have been elected since.

Born in Milford, Ohio on Dec. 24, 1908, Rowena was just like many other children. The exception was having a birthday so close to Christmas. Read More»

Leonard Goodman, 94, of Peachtree City

Leonard Goodman of 103 Flintlock Court, Peachtree City, GA died on December 13, 2010.

Born in Tacoma, WA in 1916, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Washington in Seattle. After serving in the Army in Alaska during World War II, he joined Pan American World Airways as a pilot. He flew out of San Francisco, then Frankfurt a. M. in Germany and finally New York. He retired in 1976 and moved to Georgia in 1979.

He was predeceased by his wife Mimi in 2003. Read More»
