Mr. Melvin L. Green, Jr., 78, of Senoia

Mr. Melvin L. Green, Jr., age 78, of Senoia, formerly of Fayette County, passed away on July 24, 2011.

He proudly served in the US Army. After 33 years of dedicated service, Mr. Green retired as a captain from Eastern Airlines. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin Louis Green, Sr. and Margaret Nimmo Green. Read More»

Heritage, Providence will offer Divorce Care sessions

Heritage Christian Church will once again partner with Providence United Methodist Church to offer Divorce Care and Divorce Care for Kids this fall.

Group meetings will begin on Wednesday, Aug. 17 and run through Nov. 9. Meeting times are from 6:30 – 8 p.m. and will be at Heritage Christian Church, 2130 Redwine Rd., Fayetteville.

New GriefShare session starts Aug. 16 at Fayetteville First Baptist Church

Fayetteville First Baptist Church will offer a new session of GriefShare, a free, 13-week Bible-based program for those who have lost a loved one, starting Tuesday, Aug. 16

Churches, agencies, businesses join hands for free lunch program

This summer, 325 children from 119 families in the Fayette area were in need of a nutritious meal.

Thanks to the combined efforts of Fayette County Department of Family and Children’s service, area congregations, and the support of community partners, these children received a free lunch every weekday.

This year, Fayetteville First United Methodist Church, Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran, Peachtree City First Baptist Church, New Vision Church in Fayetteville, Peachtree City Presbyterian and the Islamic Community Center of Atlanta and Islamic Speakers Bureau helped with the effort. Read More»

They were joined by a group of 146 relatives and guests from 13 different states.
