Volunteer Work Day at Line Creek Nature Area

Join your friends and neighbors on Saturday, Feb. 27 to help improve the trails at Line Creek Nature Area, a popular nature preserve in Fayette County.

Southern Conservation Trust is hosting a Volunteer Work Day at Line Creek Nature Center in Peachtree City, off Highway 54 at the Coweta County line. The 70 acre Nature Preserve features a stocked fishing pond and dock, a picnic area, granite outcroppings, and several miles of both easy and challenging trails that allow access to Line Creek.

Volunteers will block eroded trails, clear new trails, and move fallen trees. Read More»

Marjorie D. Moseley, 89, Sharpsburg, formerly of Fayetteville, died Feb. 9, 2010. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond L. Moseley Sr., and a brother, 1st Lt. Clifford Deibler. She was born in Sherrill, N. Y., and was a graduate of Plattsburgh State University. She and her husband were owner-cofounders of Moseley Linoleum & Tile Co., in East Point. She was a longtime member of Fayette Presbyterian Church. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Cliff Haddox officiating. Patricia A. "Pat" Lang, Peachtree City, died Feb. 10, 2010. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Luretha Kee Lang. She was born Nov. 16, 1929 in Asher, Okla. and a nurse in Norman, Okla. until her marriage in 1949. She moved to the Atlanta area and was employed by Avon for 30 years. She enjoyed playing bingo, and watching football, basketball and ice skating. She requested not to have a memorial service which was honored. Read More»

Gladys Carson

Gladys Carson, 78, Fayette County, died Feb. 6, 2010. She was a longtime owner and operator of Jackson General Store. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with the Rev. Jack Lanham officiating.

Survivors include her husband, Billy Carson; daughters, Debora Carson, Fayette County, and Vickie and John Zyla, Baltimore, Md.; seven grandchildren; and sisters, Doris and Ed Futyma, Hungtingtown, Md., and Judy and Bruce Bates, Churchton, Md.
