Major General Theodore (Ted) Franklin Mallory III, 68, died at his home on Sunday, June 26, 2011 following a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born on Aug. 10, 1942, in Eufaula, Alabama, to the late Theodore and Exie Adams Mallory Jr. He attended Stranahan High School in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and was graduated in 1960. Read More»

John C. “Mack” Bray, 88, of Fayetteville

John C. “Mack” Bray, age 88, was born in Fayette County on May 29, 1923, the fifth of eight brothers, to Ruby Brown Bray and Burgess Bray.

He was a proud veteran of World War II, serving as a carpenter general in England, France and Germany from January 1943 to December 1945. He continued to work as a carpenter and later as a Fayette County Building Inspector from 1978 until retirement in 1992. Mr. David Lee Crabtree, 56, of Brooks

Mr. David Lee Crabtree, 56, of Brooks, passed away on June 24, 2011 following a short illness.

He was a carpenter and was self-employed.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Lee Lester Crabtree and Amy Vera Galloway Crabtree, and brothers Roy Crabtree and Lester Crabtree.

He is survived by one son, Trace Donaldson; his sister Sherry Osburn and her husband James of Brooks; sister-in-law Margaret Crabtree of Senoia; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Crabtree was cremated and a memorial service will be planned at a later date. Read More»

Peggy Lunell Miller, age 86, of Fayetteville, GA passed away on June 19, 2011.

She was a housewife who was devoted to her family and friends.

She is survived by her son, Kevin Miller; daughter, Virginia Miller; grandchild, Robby Miller; great-granchildren, Nick and Jordan Miller.

Troop 75 returns home to PTC with awards

Troop 75, with 44 scouts and 12 adult leaders, recently returned from summer camp at Woodruff Scout Reservation in north Georgia. The troop attained the Scouting Traditions Award as well as the distinction of Honor Troop and were the best Dining Hall Cleaning Crew while at camp. As well as working on 148 merit badges, they had a scout to complete the mile swim, three scouts to become members of the “Dime Club” on the rifle range and had a Cracker Barrel with Troop 279 of Peachtree City. Each May the Metro Fayette Kiwanis recognizes the most improved 5th grade student in Fayette County, and a reception is given for those 16 students and their families. Who better than a veteran to hand out American flags on the 4th of July? As is their tradition, the four veterans groups of Fayette County will be at the front of the PTC 4th of July Parade and have joined together to hand out thousands of flags along the parade route. Dr. Edgar Lee Bolin, Jr., D.C., died Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at Piedmont Fayette Hospital.

A native of Sumter, SC, he was born August 5, 1930. Dr. Bolin grew up in Savannah, GA, and as a child attended Massey Elementary School, 38th Street School, and graduated from Savannah High School in 1948.
