PandaMania VBS set at Hopewell

Hopewell United Methodist Church in Tyrone invites all children ages preschool gthrough fifth grade to participate in PandaMania VBS 2011 which will be held at the church June 27-30, from 9 a.m. - noon.

PandaMania is filled with Bible-learning experiences that the children will see, hear, touch, and even taste. Bible Point crafts, team-building games, Bible songs, and treats are just a few of the PandaMania activities that are included.

McDonough Rd. Baptist invites kids to ‘Big Apple Adventure’

The McDonough Road Baptist Church in Fayetteville invites children and students to join them for Vacation Bible School Monday-Friday, June 6-10, from 9 a.m. – noon.

This year’s theme is “Big Apple Adventure: Where Faith and Life Connect.” Set in New York City, the adventure will help Bible schoolers discover a variety of enriching spiritual truths and experience fun activities, including crafts, music, and missions.

Try ‘Zumba’ classes at FFUMC

Fayetteville First United Methodist Church will add a new exercise class to its recreation program this summer — Zumba.

Zumba combines Latin and International music with a fun and effective workout system.

Two 5-week sessions will be offered this summer. The first will meet on Wednesday mornings from 9:15-10:15 a.m. beginning June 8. There will be no classes June 15, due to Annual Conference or June 29, due to Vacation Bible School.

The Summit will host yard sale June 4
The Summit Church on Ga. Highway 92 South will hold a “Youth Trip Yard Sale” Saturday, June 4, from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. Proceeds will benefit the church’s youth mission trip this summer. Heritage plans VBS for June 27

Heritage Christian Church in Fayetteville is inviting kids to get cookin’ at its Shake It Up Café Vacation Bible School, Monday, June 27-Friday, July 1 from 8:45 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. VBS is open to kids who have completed kindergarten through sixth grade.

At the Shake It Up Café VBS, kids will become chefs in training. The day will begin with a high energy opening in the worship center followed by the Bible Bistro, with interactive Bible lessons. Read More»

Ken and Sharon Feldhaus of Peachtree City

Ken and Sharon Feldhaus of Peachtree City celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary May 6, 2011.

Married in St. Louis, Mo. on May 6, 1961, they started a family of three children, later moving to Georgia in 1973. They currently enjoy retirement as Ken is a former national account executive with ABF Freight Systems. Recreational amenities and community attracted them to Peachtree City in 1993, where they are members of Knights of Columbus and other civic organizations. Read More»

Former Hollingsworth House to remain an event center

The former Judge Waymon Hollingsworth came to Fayette County in 1890 as a telegrapher with Southern Railroad. After marriage, he built a home in 1906 near the Fayetteville First Baptist Church on East Stonewall Avenue.

In the Fall of 2000, the house was moved one third of a mile west and the City of Fayetteville operated it as an event center.

It later sold the house and the couple making the purchase continued with that operation.

The economic down times forced them into foreclosure and the house sat empty until now. Read More»
