Mr. Marvin Harold “Buss” Hill, 91, of Fayetteville, passed away on May 3, 2011.

Mr. Hill proudly served in the U.S. Army and is a Veteran of WWII. He was a recipient of a Purple Heart Medal and a Bronze Star Medal.

Nancy Elizabeth Rickett Hancock, age 59, of Hampton, died on May 2, 2011.

She was preceded in death by her parents Loyd and Elizabeth Rickett; brothers Ronald and Richard Rickett; and grandchild Lauren Hancock.

Gary Lee Weddington, 66, of Fayetteville

Gary Lee Weddington, 66, of Fayetteville, GA, passed away peacefully at his home May 2, 2011.

Born in Boaz, AL, Gary served our country in the United States Marine Corps and was self-employed as the owner of Weddington Drywall Service. He is affectionately known as “Paw” by his seven grandchildren and was loved and respected by all who knew him.

Richard Edward Reiter, Jr., formerly of Fayetteville

Mr. Richard Edward Reiter, Jr., of Suwanee, formerly Fayetteville, was born to eternal life on May 2, 2011.

He was born on December 18, 1946. Mr. Reiter was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was a generous humanitarian who served the community through his law practice, boy scouts, church, and volunteer organizations.

His legacy continues through his wife Susan Ann Reiter, son Richard E. Reiter, III, daughter Emily (Reiter) Keag, son-in-law Tim Keag, grandson Emerson Keag, brother Robert “Bob” Reiter, and sister Alice Reiter. Read More»

Mrs. Boutwell was born March 28, 1933 in Chicago, IL. She died Friday, April 29, 2011, in Union City, GA.

No business like "shoe" business

After completing their "Get Moving" journey, Girl Scout troop 189 chose to collect gently-used shoes for Soles4Souls for their "take action project.” Soles4Souls is a Nashville-based charity that collects shoes from the warehouses of footwear companies and from collections by the church, non-profit, and youth organizations. The charity distributes these shoes to people in need in the U.S. and abroad. Since 2005, Soles4Souls has given away over 14 million pairs of new and gently worn shoes. Read More»

Trading Post marks new era with tent sale

The Trading Post, known as the oldest continuously operating business in Fayette County, is emerging into a new era. Bill Davis began his business venture 64 years ago, in 1947, on Highway 54 west of Fayetteville in a location known for selling general merchandise – gas, clothing, groceries.
