Bonner - birth

A.J. and Ashley (Meade) Bonner of Senoia announce the birth of their daughter, Kinsley Rae Bonner, at 9:44 p.m. on Feb. 8, 2012, at Piedmont Fayette Hospital. Kinsley weighed 8 lbs. 6 oz. and was 19 inches long. Grandparents are Larry and Toni Meade of Fayetteville, Kim and Les Potter of Newnan, and Alan Bonner of Franklin. Great grandparents are Bill and Sherba Peek of Sharpsburg and Marilyn Lowery of Peachtree City. Kinsley was welcomed home by her brother, Dalton.

When Sandy Creek High’s SkillsUSA team competes, they go all out. Not only did all 18 contestants medal in their events at the SkillsUSA Region Competition, but they also had the most team members competing from their geographic area that stretches from Rockdale County in the north to Crisp County in the south.

Sandy Creek’s team took home first, second and third place medals from 12 competitive events. All first and second place winners will advance to the state competition in March. Read More»

Bennett’s Mill Middle took out 13 teams to clinch a first place finish at the Science Olympiad Regional Tournament at Columbus State University. The team’s victory secures them a spot in the State Science Olympiad competition at Southern Polytechnic State University in March.

Bennett’s Mill won a total of 18 medals (8 first place, 5 second place, 2 third place, and 3 fourth place) as well as five ribbons for fifth through 10th place finishes. Read More»

Fayette County Post 105 of The American Legion conducted their Oratorical Constitutional Speech Contest recently. Matthew Hukin, a Peachtree City home school student representing the Soaring Eagles was selected the winner from among six competitors. His winning prepared oration was entitled "The Constitution, our instruction manual." Hukin, left, is congratulated by Denny Leander, Post 105 Commander. Academic teams rise to the top at regionals

Fayette’s academic teams had all the right answers, sweeping one division and practically two others at the 2012 Griffin RESA Academic Bowl.

The High School Junior Varsity Division was swept by four Fayette high schools: Fayette County High, first place; Whitewater High, second place; Starr’s Mill High, third place; and McIntosh High, fourth place.

The Fayette teams dominated the High School Varsity Division with McIntosh High taking second, Starr’s Mill High placing third, and Whitewater High finishing fourth. Read More»
