COS announces events for Reformation Sunday

Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church in Peachtree City will celebrate its Lutheran heritage with Reformation Sunday events Oct. 30.

During GraceFlock worship at 10:50 a.m. two songs by composer/vocalist/guitarist Lans Rothfusz, “Here I Stand” and “Soli Deo Gloria,” will be sung with excitement.

At 8:30 and 11 a.m. The COS Brass and Joyful Noise Ringers will join Sanctuary Choir and the congregation for festival music.

Inman UMC will offer ‘allergy friendly’ Trunk or Treat for kids

Inman United Methodist Church, 151 Hills Bridge Road, Fayetteville, will hold its annual Trunk or Treat – “Light the Night for Jesus” - event on Saturday, Oct. 29 from 5:30 - 8:30 p.m. Everything is free and open to the community.

FUMC’s Christmas Marketplace set for Nov. 5 in Family Life Center

The 22nd annual Christmas Marketplace is Nov. 5 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the Fayetteville First United Methodist Family Life Center. The event will feature more than 80 unique vendors, large bric-a-brac sale and homemade bake sale.

Shoppers can scour the marketplace for jewelry, carpentry, stained glass, monogramming, decorative art, smocked dresses, Christmas wreaths and other treasures.

The United Methodist Women will host the event and all profits support their missions. Donations may be dropped off at the church beginning Sunday, Oct. 30, until the sale. Read More»

PTCUMC to offer dual seminar for ‘Surviving the Holidays’

PTCUMC will present “Surviving the Holidays, ” a seminar for both GriefShare and DivorceCare, Tuesday, Nov. 1 at 7 p.m.

Seminars for GriefShare and DivorceCare will be held in separate rooms.

“This seminar is a helpful, encouraging seminar for people facing the holidays after a loved one’s death or after separation or divorce,” a spokesperson said. “The seminar features practical suggestions through video interviews with counselors, experts and other people who have experienced the holidays after facing these life changing experiences.” Read More»

Leave toys, food, clothing at CCC

Community Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) 349 Kenwood Rd., Fayetteville, is a drop off point for Toys for Tots, non-perishable food and paper goods for Fayette Samaritans and is collecting coats and sweaters for the needy. Donors are asked to call in advance (770-460-9745) before dropping off any items to the church.

The Real Life Center in partnership with the Atlanta Community Food Bank will hold its next Mobile Food Pantry on Thursday Oct. 27 in the Dogwood Church parking lot at 975 Ga. Hwy. 74 North. A variety of food items will be distributed free of charge on a first come, first serve basis to families in need of food assistance. For more information contact the Real Life Center, 770-631-9334. The center, located in Tyrone, is open Monday - Thursday, 9 a.m. - noon and Thursday from 5-7 p.m.

Christian City’s Pancake Breakfast and Autumn Festival set for Saturday morning

Christian City is hosting their annual Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, October 29 from 8-10 a.m. in the parking lot behind the Welcome Center of Christian City located at 7345 Red Oak Road in Union City. Tickets are only $5 and includes a delicious breakfast of pancakes, sausage, coffee, and juice all of which are served to you by the dedicated house parents and employees of The  Children’s Village.

Market Day and Pumpkin festival in Fayetteville

Fayetteville Main Street and the Pumpkin People are planning a variety of family events and opportunities for local residents on Saturday, October 29 in Downtown Fayetteville.

Starting at the Gazebo at 10 a.m., residents can shop at an extended Market Day that runs until 6 p.m. With over 106 vendors, this will be the largest Market Day so far for 2011.

Joyce Waits, Main Street Coordinator, says that this year’s Market Days have been the best so far since starting this monthly event in 2008. Read More»
