Annual Civitan Chili Challenge this Saturday

The Line Creek Civitan Club and the Georgia District Civitan Foundation will host the Civitan Great Chili Challenge at Shakerag Knoll in Peachtree City from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Saturday, October 29. Church bikers visit recovering bishop

Members of the motorcycling community at the Cathedral of Christ the King in Sharpsburg took their first ride together, which included a stop at the home of Bishop John Holloway and family. The group left Christ the King after morning services on Sunday, Oct. 16, and made the 40-mile ride to the city of Griffin. Father Jason administered Holy Eucharist to the Holloway family. John Holloway served as the Bishop of the Diocese of the Mid-South from 1997 until June 2007 when he suffered a massive stroke. Read More»

Luther T. Holt, Jr. recognized for dedication to resident quality of life

A park and recreation professional for nearly 40 years, Luther T. Holt, Jr. dedicated his career to enhancing resident quality of life in the communities of Lexington, Kentucky; Highland Park and Detroit, Michigan. In retirement, Holt brought his passion to Peachtree City, Georgia, serving an integral role on the City’s Recreation Commission. Family and friends of Luther T. Holt, Jr. recently joined the Michigan Recreation and Park Association (MRPA) in Canton, Michigan to honor his memory and countless contributions during Holt’s induction to the MRPA Hall of Fame. FSS receives Meals On Wheels grant from Walmart

It was a grant award that will help meet an expanding need in Fayette County. The Walmart Foundation recently awarded Fayette Senior Services (FSS) with a $13,310 grant for the Meals On Wheels program. The FSS Meals On Wheels program since 2000 has served approximately 40,000 meals each year.

FSS Executive Director Debbie Britt said the grant will provide the Meals On Wheels program with much-needed freezer space and other equipment that is critical in the management and delivery of services. Read More»

Mary Ann Roy, of Senoia, passed away on Oct. 17, 2011. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Langley, two infant daughters, and an uncle, Darrell Pritchard.

The streets along the south side of Peachtree City were jammed with nearly 2,000 runners Oct. 15 for the 2011 edition of the Peachtree City Classic.
