Mrs. Julia W. Williamson of Newnan died Friday Dec. 30, 2011.

Mrs. Williamson was a member of Cokes Chapel United Methodist Church.

She retired from Ga. Tech as a bookkeeper in the college book store.

Donald Stuart Tuel, 79, of Fayetteville

Mr. Donald Stuart Tuel, 79, of Fayetteville, passed away on Dec. 27, 2011.

Mr. Tuel was a proud veteran, who served his country in the US Air Force. Following his military career, he joined Piedmont Airlines in 1962, which later became US Airways.

He was a lead mechanic and retired with 35 years of service He was also the flight engineer for Atlanta Skylarks Travel Club.

He loved working on aircraft and fishing. He had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh but above everything else, his family was his first priority. Read More»

Theron Banks, age 73 of Loganville

Mr. Theron Banks, age 73 of Loganville, Ga. formerly of

Fayetteville, passed away Dec. 24, 2011.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Mae Babb Banks.

He is survived by his wife, Dolly Banks and daughters, Cathy Banks, Robbie Walden, Donna Staples, Angela New, sister, Joe Ann Dean.

A service celebrating the life of T.R. Banks was held Friday, Dec. 30, 2011 at Tom M. Wages Snellville Chapel.

 

John F. Turner, 33, of Fayetteville

John F. Turner, 33, of Fayetteville, Ga. passed away Monday, Jan. 2, 2012.

John was born August 6, 1978 in Rochester, N.Y. to John M. & Christine M. Richards Turner.

The new year will bring expanded services and a new name to the Meals on Wheels program in Coweta County. The re-named Meals on Wheels of Coweta, Inc. currently serves 60 older residents, one-third of whom live in east Coweta, and in 2012 will be introducing a handyman program and another that provides in-home visits. Fayette Family Church will host Watch Night gospel service

Fayette Family Church, located at 1729 Ga. Hwy. 54 West, will have a special Old-Fashioned Watch Night Service, featuring singing, preaching and communion on Saturday, Dec. 31, starting at 10 p.m. The Watch Night tradition is observed in many Christian churches. Music will be Southern Gospel featuring the Singing Purcells. Everyone is welcome.

To welcome the New Year, Sunday, Jan. 1, there will be one joint worship service at 10:45 a.m. A children’s church and nursery are provided.

‘Come Together’ benefit concert planned for Jan. 15

Pastor Rhys Stenner and the Church Family of New Hope Baptist in Fayetteville will present the Third Annual Come Together Benefit Concert for Wellspring Living featuring a stellar list of renowned awarding winning gospel artists and the New Hope Baptist Church Choir and Orchestra. Providence Divorce Care/Divorce Care for kids starts Jan. 23

A new 13-week DivorceCare and DivorceCare for Kids (DC4K) session will begin on Monday, Jan. 23, at Providence United Methodist Church. Providence is at 592 Bernhard Road in Fayetteville. Providence UMC and Heritage Christian Church partner to offer these programs. Both sessions are free and nursery is available for children not participating in DC4K.
