Susan Levine, 62, of Riverdale

Susan Levine, 62, of Riverdale, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 10, 2011.

She was born to the late Charles and Thelma Adler in Akron, Ohio, and in 1980, moved to Georgia, where she found her passion as a cantorial soloist at Congregation B’nai Israel.

She is survived by her loving husband of 25 years, Raphael Levine; her son, Scott Isaac and his wife, Kerry; her daughter, Tara Hughes and her husband, Eugene; her grandchildren, Nicholas and Kate Isaac, and Sabrina Hughes; her sisters, Robin Ledridge and Carol Montesinos; and her brother, Tommy Israel. Mr. John Keith Howell, 54, of Tyrone

Mr. John Keith Howell, age 54, of Tyrone, Ga., passed away on Tuesday, August 9, 2011.

He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Mr. Howell was a Sunday school teacher at Crossroads Church of Newnan, GA, and was employed by Delta Airlines for 32-years as a Lead Aircraft Mechanic.

Joey Corvino, 24, of Peachtree City

Joey Corvino passed away on August 9, 2011 at the age of 24.

Joey was a 2005 graduate of McIntosh High School and a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.

He had a carefree spirit and a great sense of humor. He enjoyed traveling and especially his time spent at the beach. Joey loved music, but most of all, loved the time that he spent with his sister, Michelle. Read More»

Richard (Rick) Deraney, 26, of Fayetteville, passed away on August 9, 2011.

He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Derany, Sr., paternal grandfather Joseph A. Deraney, Sr., maternal grandparents Hugo and Irene DeVaughn.

He is survived by his mother Virginia (Ginger) Deraney of Fayetteville; brothers, Christopher J. Deraney of Jonesboro and John (Brittany) Deraney of Newnan; niece Peyton Elizabeth Deraney of Newnan; and paternal grandmother Mable Deraney of Barnesville. Read More»

First Lady of Georgia Mrs. Sandra Deal recently visited the Christian City campus for a tour and lunch.

After attending Christian City’s Hopes and Dreams Luncheon featuring Former First Lady Laura Bush, Deal became interested in the ministries for abandoned and abused children and seniors Christian City offers. Fayetteville First UMC will offer fitness classes this month

During the month of August, Fayetteville First United Methodist Church (FFUMC) will offer a number of fitness classes for people of all ages and abilities.

PiYo™ is a unique class designed to build strength and gain flexibility using pilates and yoga practice as a base. All levels welcome. PiYo started Aug. 8 and meets Mondays from 7 - 8 p.m.

PTCUMC, Providence FPU classes start this weekend

Providence United Methodist Church and Peachtree City United Methodist Church will offer Dave Ramsey’s “Financial Peace University,” a 13-week class, starting this weekend.

The class seeks to help individuals get out of debt and learn to manage finances. The average participant has eliminated $5,300 of debt and saved $2,300 in those 13 weeks.

The PTCUMC class meets Sundays beginning Aug. 14 from 4-6:30 p.m.

The Providence UMC class meets Wednesdays beginning Aug. 17, from 6:30– 8:30 p.m. The cost for class materials is $80, and free childcare is provided. Read More»
