Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran plans holiday meal Nov. 23

The annual Thanksgiving Eve Chili Supper at Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church will be Nov. 23 at 6 p.m.

A variety of chilis will be offered, from mild to flaming, with vegetarian options and unusual ingredients to sample. Homemade desserts will complement the meal. There is no charge, and all are welcome.

Pastor Fred Wiese, father of COS senior pastor Fritz Wiese, will speak at the 7 p.m. worship service.

The Dietmeyer family will provide special music.

COS is on the corner of Ga. Highway 54 and Peachtree Parkway in Peachtree City.

Flat Creek Baptist to host training event

Flat Creek Baptist Church will host a Sunday School Training Event, “Light Unto My Path,” based on Psalms 119:105, Friday, Jan. 27, 2012, at the church. Supper will be served at 6 p.m. followed by the training event from 7-10 p.m.

The cost is $5 each for Fairburn Association members and $15 each for non-Fairburn Association members.

There will be classes for leaders of all age groups (from preschool through adult) as well as pastors, Sunday School directors and more, led by acclaimed leaders from all over the state. Read More»

Holy Trinity will offer special Griefshare this month

“Surviving the Holidays” is a special GriefShare program to help those dealing with grief during the holidays.

A special holiday devotional will be provided.

Sessions will be offered on Wednesday, Nov. 16, from 7-9 p.m. and on Friday, Nov. 18, from 9:30-11:30 a.m. in room #205 of the Faith Formation Building at Holy Trinity Church, 101 Walt Banks Rd, Peachtree City.

Providence UMC hosts book signing, Jan. classes

Ron Clower, author of “Jesus Christ: Centerpiece of God’s Universe” will sign copies of his book on Wednesday, Nov. 16, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the café at Providence UMC.

Providence invites the community to the book signing followed by Wednesday Night Supper. Dinner is free for first time visitors but seats are limited. Guests must sign up ahead of time by emailing Rhonda at Rcrowther@provumc.com.

On Thursday, Nov. 17, Christ Our Shepherd will offer two workshops at 7 p.m.  “Grief Share Surviving the Holidays” helps people deal with the intense pain of grief during the holiday season. “Divorce Care Surviving the Holidays” helps people not only to survive but also to find strength, healing and tools to move forward. Ernest Lane Brown, 73, of Fayettevillle

Ernest Lane Brown

Ernest Lane Brown died on Nov. 11, 2011 surrounded by his loving family, from complications of cancer.

Lane was born in Atlanta, Ga. on September 28, 1938 to Benjamin Lane and Frances Brown. He attended Southwest High School and went onto UGA and the Atlanta Law School.

Lane was a commercial real estate broker, who was in business in the Atlanta area for over 40 years. He absolutely loved his work. When a developer friend learned of his passing, he said, "we have lost a real warrior in the business." Read More»

Katherine Paulk

Miss Katherine (Katie) Paulk of Decatur passed away Nov. 13, 2011. She was born July 19, 1977 in Montgomery, Ala. and was a 1995 graduate of Cherokee County High School.

Katie attended Young Harris College and graduated from Georgia State University in 2000 with a degree in Journalism. She was a graduate from the Paralegal program at Emory University and employed by the law firm of Dorough and Dorough in Decatur, Ga. She served as a mentor with the Big Brother/Big Sister program, volunteered with local soup kitchens, and attended Episcopal Church of the Epiphany in Atlanta. Read More»

Hugh David Vaughan, 70, of Fayetteville, Ga., passed away Nov. 14, 2011.

Barry Hugh Wilkinson, 49, died suddenly on Thursday, Oct. 13 2011 at his home in Fayetteville, Ga. He was a loving husband and father; his greatest pastime was spending time with his family.

Barry was born to Hugh and Mildred Wilkinson in 1962 in Glendale, Calif. He married Sherry Fetterolf in May of 1987. Barry was a graduate of the University of Southern California and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force and a pilot for Delta Airlines. Read More»

Becky Wyatt, 51, of Senioa

Becky Wyatt, 51, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011. Born April 8, 1960 in Atlanta, Ga., Becky lived in Senoia and worked with her husband, Donald in a family business. Becky was an avid fundraiser for The Alzheimerís Association and intrepid traveler of the Western World.

Survivors include husband, Donald Bulloch of Senoia, Ga., mother, Genetha Wyatt and father, Tommy Wyatt, both of Fayetteville, Ga., sister, Rhonda Wyatt-Frizzell, brother-in-law, Scott Frizzell and Nephew, Keaton Wyatt of Brooks, Ga., a multitude of loving family members and close friends.
