Caputo chosen as children’s director at CTK

Mrs. Lois Caputo has been named as the new children’s ministries director for the Cathedral of Christ the King, Sharpsburg. The new director will have responsibility for the current children’s church program, for Vacation Bible Schools, and for a future planned children’s Sunday school program and an expanded children’s church ministry. She will also be responsible for teacher recruitment and oversight and for the development and implementation of a solid curriculum for the children’s programs. Read More»

‘Art With a Heart’ will benefit Christian City’s Children’s Village

The “Art With a Heart” Fine Arts and Crafts Show benefitting The Children’s Village at Christian City is planned for Friday and Saturday, Feb. 3 and 4, at St. Andrews in the Pines Episcopal Church in Peachtree City. The event is sponsored by FAACE (Fine Arts And Crafts Entrepreneurs).

The opening reception will be held Friday, Feb. 3, from 6-9 p.m. The art show will be held the following day, Saturday, Feb. 4, from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m., and will feature original fine arts and crafts, paintings, pottery, fiber art, jewelry, ornaments, stained glass, wall hangings and more. Read More»

B’nai Israel to host Schafer concert

Congregation B’nai Israel of Fayetteville, a reform synagogue serving the Jewish population on the southside of Metro Atlanta, will present a concert Jan. 28 by the award-winning, faith-based musician, Beth Schafer.

The concert will be held at 7 p.m. in the sanctuary of the synagogue building on Ga. Highway 54 near Corinth Road, east of downtown Fayetteville, and will be open to the general public. Read More»

Flat Creek Baptist to host Sunday School training event next week

Each year Flat Creek Baptist Church and The Fairburn Baptist Association provide training for all Sunday School/Small Group workers. This year the theme will be “A Light Unto My Path,” taken from Psalms 119:105. The training event will be held Friday, Jan. 27, at the church.

Providence Divorce Care/Divorce Care for kids starts next week

A new 13-week Divorce Care and Divorce Care for Kids (DC4K) session will begin on Monday, Jan. 23, at Providence United Methodist Church.

Providence UMC and Heritage Christian Church partner to offer the programs. Both sessions are free and nursery is available for children not participating in DC4K.

DC4K curriculum is geared for children ages 5 - 12 yrs. and meets each Monday evening (except for Fayette County school holidays) from 6:30 - 8 p.m.

The biblical-based programs are for anyone who wants and needs help during this difficult time. Read More»

Senoia UMC members serve lunch to ECMS teachers

Senoia UMC provided a soup and sandwich luncheon to the teachers and staff of East Coweta Middle School on Jan. 4, the only teacher Work Day in the 2011-2012 school year.

A number of members provided soups including taco, broccoli and cheese, chicken noodle, New England clam chowder, chili and many others, along with grilled cheese sandwiches and many wonderful desserts — banana pudding, cookies of all types, cakes, and such. Read More»

GriefShare starts Jan. 19 at PTCUMC
GriefShare, A 14-week series open to anyone in the community grieving the loss of a friend or loved one, will begin on Thursday, Jan. 19 from 6:30 - 8 p.m. in Room 308 at Peachtree City United Methodist Church, 225 Robinson Rd.  The program is Christ-centered and uses a video, workbook, and open discussion format. A minimal fee covers the cost of the workbook; scholarships are available. For information, contact the church office, 770-487-6499.

Afton Moore and Nick Trevena

Afton Moore and Nick Trevena have announced their engagement. The bride-to-be is from Waycross and is the daughter of Tammy and Richard Hickson and Gene and Lynne Moore. She graduated from the University of Georgia in December of 2010 and currently teaches Pre-K in Blackshear.

The groom-elect is the son of Dr. Russell and Jennifer Trevena of Peachtree City. He attends the University of Georgia, where he is a senior cadet in UGA’s Army ROTC program and will commission as an officer in the U.S .Army when he graduates in May.

The wedding will be in May 2012 on family land in Blackshear.

The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Artis Johnson Sr. and Mrs. Annie L. Wideman of Decatur and the late James D. WIdeman. She is a 2000 graduate of Fayette County High School, a 2004 graduate of Mercer University and a 2008 graduate of Mercer University School of Law.
