Thrift shop helps out Christian City

The Clothes Less Traveled Thrift Shop gave a generous gift of $35,000 to Christian City to help care for seniors without resources for daily living and the abandoned and abused children living in the cottages at The Children’s Village. The Clothes Less Traveled is a not-for-profit thrift store located in Peachtree City and is always in need of donations and volunteers. Founded in 1962, Christian City provides healthcare and residential services to active seniors and the elderly offering a full continuum of care. Read More»

With Easter just a few days away, Christians all over the world are busy preparing for the celebration of Christ’s resurrection on Easter Sunday, which falls this year on March 31. Some celebrate all week, (Holy Week) from the triumphant entry of Christ into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, to his last supper with the Apostles on Maundy Thursday, through somber services (Tenebrae) observing his trial and tragic death on the cross on Good Friday, and ending with the joyous celebration of his resurrection on Easter Sunday. Mary Don Erskine, 73, passed away March 24, 2013 in Newnan, Ga.

She was born August 5, 1939 to Orval and Addie Mae Neal. She was a flight attendant for 42 years.

She is survived by her daughter Jennifer Michel and husband Wayne of Newnan, Ga.; grandchildren Zachary Frasier of Newnan, Ga. and Heather Narron and husband Chris of Senoia, Ga.; sister Carolyn Porter of San Diego, Calif.; brother Ron Neal, of Phoenix, Ariz.; ex-husband Jack Erskine of Locust Grove, Ga.; and many nieces and nephews across the country. David William Howland, of Hampton

David William Howland, of Hampton, passed away on March 21, 2013 at the age of 70.

David was a loving and caring husband, son, father, grandfather great-grandfather, and friend who loved to spend time with his family. He was a "family leader," always there for those that he loved, but also a successful businessman.

David was a hard worker with the highest character and a tremendous work ethic. He served for 12 years as the Plant Manager for the Maxxis International Corporation.

Ralph Scalise, Jr. of Fayetteville

Ralph Scalise, Jr. of Fayetteville, Ga. passed away peacefully on March 15, 2013 after a long, courageous battle with multiple myeloma; he was 66 years old.

Ralph was born in Burbank, Calif. and enlisted in the Navy out of high school where he spent 3 tours of duty in Vietnam. After Vietnam he returned home and began work in the sheet metal industry where he spent 30 years designing and building air conditioning systems. He was fortunate to retire at age 50. Read More»

Ed and Joan Jachino will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary

Ed and Joan Jachino will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on March 30. They were married in Glen Ellyn, Illinois at Glen Ellyn Methodist Church in 1963.

In 1976, the Jachinos moved to Peachtree City with their three daughters. Still residing in Peachtree City, Ed is retired from the James River Corporation, and Joan is a retired Fayette County teacher. While enjoying retirement, both are active in the community. Read More»

Jan & Bill Hall 65th Wedding Anniversary

Jan and Bill Hall will celebrate their 65th

Jan and Bill Hall will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary on April 3, 2013.

They met in high school in Rockford, Ill. and married in 1948 at age 19. (They don't last).

Bill was a salesman for Graphic Arts and they have lived in several states. They are now retired in Peachtree City. Jan is active in the community with the garden club and book club.

They have two children, Mike Hall (Kathy), Jill Hall and one grandchild, Matt Hall.

They will celebrate their anniversary horseback riding at Georgia State Park Brasstown Valley in Young Harris.

The future bride is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John C. Crawford Jr. and the late Mr. and Mrs. Alfred. F. Latting.
