Girl Scout takes project to a whole new level

Most juniors in high school use the spring and Thanksgiving breaks to relax and unwind from the stress. But Lauren Ladouceuer is not a regular high school junior.

In August, 2012, Lauren’s father visited the country of Haiti to visit his grandparents. When he returned home, he told Lauren about the children struggling in the town of La Trembly.

“The timing was perfect because I wanted to do my Girl Scout Gold Award Project in Haiti, but didn’t know where to start”, Lauren said. Now, she had the ideas for her project and could put them into action. Read More»

Christian City dedicates newest facilities

Community leaders, volunteers, sponsors, Christian City Trustees, and staff gathered to dedicate a new Crisis Stabilization Cottage and Multi-Court Recreational Facility on the campus of The Children’s Village at Christian City.

Theodore Charles Freeman, 85, of Peachtree City

Theodore Charles Freeman

Mr. Theodore (Ted) Charles Freeman (85) of Peachtree City, Ga. passed away on February 20, 2014. Ted was born May 20, 1928 and grew up in Muskegon, Mich. with six brothers and sisters. While serving in the US Army he shared his knowledge of the printing industry with disabled Veterans. He moved to Southern California where he married his wife Millie and raised their three children. In December of 1992, after working 50 plus years in the printing business, they moved to Peachtree City to enjoy retirement. Dolores Cason Grimes, 83, of Sharpsburg, passed away February 26, 2014.

She graduated from Winthrop College in Rock Hill, S.C. and was a retired math teacher from Haralson County School System. She was a member of Peachtree City First Baptist Church.

She is survived by her sons Kevin and his wife, Jill Grimes of Sharpsburg and Brian Grimes of Douglasville; grandchildren Tiffany and Ashley Grimes of Sharpsburg; sister Charlene and her husband Donald Smith of Tallapoosa; brother Lindy and his wife Betty Cason of Dallas, Ga. and several nieces and nephews. Joe Lamar Lynch, 76, of Fayetteville, passed away February 27, 2014.

He was born April 28, 1937 in Griffin, Ga. to the late Joseph Franklin Lynch and Nettie Lou Reid. He graduated from Griffin High School in 1955 and also attended Georgia Tech. Mr. Lynch retired from Georgia Power Co. with over 35 years of service as a design engineer. He was a deacon emeritus at Fayetteville First Baptist Church, where he was a member for over 50 years. Judith Harlow Devine, 78, of Fayetteville, passed away February 26, 2014.

She was preceded in death by her husband John J. Devine and parents Kenneth & Ruth Harlow.

She is survived by her daughters Andree Devine, Shawn Gilmore, Christina and husband Tony Williams, and Kimberly Rountree; also 12 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was held Saturday, March 1, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Westminster Memorial Gardens, Peachtree City. Reverend Carolyn Clifton officiated. The family received friends Saturday 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. Read More»
