Meeting for new UMC startup in Coweta planned for Saturday

A meeting to garner interest in the startup of Threshold Church. a new United Methodist Church planned for Coweta County, will be held this Saturday, Aug. 16 from 7-9 p.m. at the Newnan Carnegie Library.

Attendees will enjoy a showing of the movie “Stranger Than Fiction.” Discussion will follow. Refreshments will be provided.

Spearheading the effort is the Rev. Dr. Quincy Brown, a seasoned UMC minister and long-time pastoral leader in the North Georgia United Methodist Conference. Brown also is a resident of Newnan. Read More»

His services will be held Wed, Aug 13 at 11 a.m., Word of Faith Family Worship Cathedral, 212 Riverside Pkwy, Austell 30168.

She was the wife of Dr. Charles Wharton of Peachtree City. Beatrice graduated from the University of Cincinnati and taught high school math. She also worked for many years in the business world. When Charles' job took them to Florida she went back to teaching. Up until her retirement she taught high school students who were homebound because of serious injury or illness. Read More»

This Saturday, Aug. 16 is the third Market Day event of 2014, at the Lane Brown Gazebo in Downtown Fayetteville. Fayetteville Main Street welcomes everyone to attend this open air market featuring a variety of vendors showcasing their homemade or homegrown products.

The Coweta-Fayette Georgia Tech Club hosted its 8th annual Freshman Class Sendoff BBQ on Aug. 27. Students and parents were treated to a rousing speech on “How to Succeed at Georgia Tech,” by retired Dean Miller Templeton who is still the advisor to the GT President’s Scholars. Also giving a welcome was the new President of the GT Student Body, Dillon Roseen, who attended our sendoff three years ago and was motivated to start his journey to leadership at Georgia Tech.
