Robert Edward Nisbet, 82, of Senoia, passed away July 28, 2014. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He also worked 40 plus years in commercial aviation.

Nativity will begin new evening service Sunday

The Episcopal Church of the Nativity in Fayetteville will begin holding an additional afternoon service, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 3. The parish will continue its present 10 a.m.Sunday Eucharist.

The Rev. Rita Henault, Nativity’s rector, said the new service will be “... casual, relaxed, affirming and participatory,” and will include scripture, prayer and Holy Communion, as well as music in different forms. Read More»

Carriage Lane Presbyterian readies for annual yard sale

Members of Carriage Lane Presbyterian Church in Peachtree City are gearing up for their annual Ranch on Jesus yard sale planned for Friday, Aug. 8, from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturday Aug. 9 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. The annual yard sale plays a large part in covering the educational costs of Ugandan children at Ranch on Jesus orphanage. Six members of Hopewell UMC’s United Methodist women met on Friday, July 25, to celebrate Christmas in July. Julie Compton, of Sassy Chick Paint Parties, helped the women paint a jolly snowman to use in their Christmas décor.

“It’s surprising how Compton can guide the untrained hands of ‘wannabe’ painters to execute a frame worthy piece of art they can be proud to display,” said Elaine Pierce, a member of the group.

The women continued the theme by playing Christmas music and preparing delightful snacks to fortify them for their task.

Plans for Christian City’s Chair-ity Event’ now underway

Ticket sales for Christian City’s annual Chair-ity event, a major fundraiser now in its eighth year, have now begun and tickets may be purchased online for $25 at www.christiancity.org.

Hosted by dedicated volunteers, community leaders, and the local arts community, this year’s Chair-ity Event will be held from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 4, at The Dolce Atlanta-Peachtree in Peachtree City.

ABC will offer free promotional class this fall

Pastors from local churches, lay leaders and individuals are invited to take advantage of the free Bible college course promotion this fall semester at Atlanta Bible College in McDonough.

The purpose of the promotion is to let the public know about Atlanta Bible College and give church leaders and members an opportunity to go back to school to complete a theology degree or to start school and obtain a quality Biblical education. A one year foundation certificate does not require a GED.

J. Brent Edward

J. Brent Edward, 77, of Peachtree City, Ga., passed away July 23, 2014, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Ogden, Utah, August 19, 1936, to the late John B. Edward and Donna M. Edward.

Brent worked as an Aviation Safety Inspector with the National Simulator Program, for the Federal Aviation Administration. He was retired from Northwest Airlines, after many years of flying in corporate aviation. He was an avid pilot, serving his country as a Navy Reconnaissance pilot, flying the RF8 Crusader. Read More»
