Pastor’s study begins Sunday

Peachtree City United Methodist Church is launching its new Pastor’s Study, Sunday, Sept. 7 from 5:30-7 p.m. at its Robinson Road campus.

PTCUMC’s senior pastor, Dr. Steve Dodson, kicks off this adult program with a series titled, “Developing Christ-like Character.”

Participants will take a five week (Sept. 7 – Oct. 5) journey through the scriptures discussing what it means to reflect Christ in their life, with their family, at work, and in society. Read More»

NFUMC Bible study groups forming now

North Fayette United Methodist Church, 847 New Hope Rd., Fayetteville, is forming Covenant Bible Study groups for Tuesday evenings and Wednesday mornings. Anticipated start date for the groups will be Sept. 23 and 24.

Covenant Bible Study is a 24-week program, but is divided into three eight-week modules which may be taken independently. This new Bible Study covers most of scripture with a theme of biblical relationships created by and lived through covenant.

Carolyn Curry to speak at October meeting of seniors’ group at FFUMC

Atlanta resident and writer Carolyn Curry will discuss her current biography, Suffer and Grow Strong, The Life of Ella Gertrude Clanton Thomas, 1834-1907, at the Tuesday, Oct. 7 luncheon meeting of Titus II at Fayetteville First United Methodist Church. The event will be held in the Family Life Center at noon.

Beth Moore study begins

The Beth Moore Bible study, Daniel, will start Sept. 16 and continue each Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at Peachtree City United Methodist Church, 225 Robinson Rd. in Peachtree City. Book cost is $19.

Tickets for Christian City’s Chair-ity event now availabl

Ticket sales for Christian City’s annual Chair-ity event, a major fund raiser, have now begun and tickets may be purchased online for $25 at www.christiancity.org.

This year’s event will be held from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 4, at The Dolce Atlanta-Peachtree in Peachtree City.

Dress is casual for the drop-in event and ticket prices cover both food and drink.

Proceeds from the event support the homeless children who live at The Children’s Village.

English as a Second Language (ESL) classes for adults begin Friday, Sept. 5, at Carriage Lane Presbyterian Church, PCA, and meet weekly through May 15, 2015.  Classes are free and students can join any time.  Classes are held on Fridays from 9:30 - 11:30 a.m.  Childcare is provided.  The church is at 101 Carriage Lane, Peachtree City. Irvin R. Vicknair, 84, of Peachtree City

Irvin R. Vicknair

Irvin "Irv" R. Vicknair, 84, a 38-year resident of Peachtree City, Ga. passed away on August 28, 2014. "To make a long story short," he was born on August 3, 1930 in Norco, La. to Mr. and Mrs. Wilton D. Vicknair. He was the second born of three children, W.J. Vicknair and Sybil Vicknair Retif.

In December 1950, he married his beloved wife and sweetheart of 63 years, Eva Jane Goudeau of Baton Rouge before joining the Armed forces in 1951 and attending the Korean War. He returned to Baton Rouge in 1953 and began his 36-year career with Delta Airlines. Read More»

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Charles B. Pyke, Sr. and is survived by her daughter, Anne Pyke Miller and her husband Kevin of Tyrone; son, Charles B. John Edward Crain, Jr., 69, of Fayetteville, passed away Tuesday, August 26, 2014. He was a graduate of the University of Memphis and retired after 35 years with Pitney Bowes. Mr. Crain was a loving Papa to his girls.
