Volunteers, staff hold kickoff meeting for Christian City event

Volunteers and staff gathered recently on the campus of The Children’s Village at Christian City for this year’s “Chair-ity Event” kick-off meeting. Plans are already underway for this annual holiday fund raiser, now in its eighth year. Proceeds from the event support the abandoned, abused, and otherwise homeless children who live in the cottages at The Children’s Village.

“Last year we raised over $79,000 dollars for our kids, and this year we’re hoping to raise even more,” said Ashley Bonner, Christian City’s fund development specialist. Read More»

He served our country in the US Marine Corp.

He was preceded in death by his parents Richard and Carol Nielsen.

She was born April 7, 1934 in Sinking Creek, Va. and graduated from Mayfield High School in 1952. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Hallie Hughes. Her husband, Buddy Nickelson, her sisters, Ileta Huffman, Sally Patton and Eva Saunders preceded her in death. Read More»

Karla Dietmeyer and Olivia Hahn, also known as “The OK Factor,” will present a concert on Wednesday, July 9, at 7 p.m. at Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church in Peachtree City.

Olivia (O) and Karla (K) met when both were students in classical music at Luther College. They began collaborating in 2012, joining forces to form an alternative folk duo which experiments in a number of genres, including bluegrass, jazz, and popular music.
