The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Adrian Jones of Fayetteville. She is the granddaughter of Jessie Marie Bishop and the late Max W. After meeting on a blind date, they were married in Bay Minette, Ala in 1960. Mr. and Mrs. Eugene H. Garner (Dot and Gene) of Fayetteville celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary Sept. 5, 2010. They married Sept. 5, 1940 in Atlanta at the ages of 19 and 18 years old.

The Garners now reside in Fayetteville, but, since Gene worked for the air force as a quality control inspector, they have moved several times over the years. They lived in Forest Park, Marietta, Roswell, N.M., Garrison, N.D. and in Titusville, Fla. where the Air Force was hired by NASA to work on missles. The Charpings were married Aug. 6, 1960 in Andersonville, S.C.

Celebrating with them were daughters, Deborah C. Mitchell, St. Petersburg, Fla., and Sherry Annette Taylor, McDonough, three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Originally from central Illinois, they were married in 1940 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
