In the spring of 1943, Major Sanders set his eyes on Mae Anthony, and while it’s a bit cliché’, he will say that it was love at first sight. Major and Mae dated for a year so. Mae was not easy girl; Mae wanted to make sure that he was the one. By 1944, Major enlisted in the Navy. Just before he was deployed he asked Mae to marry him. “That was really trying time for us. Ken and Sharon Feldhaus of Peachtree City celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary May 6, 2011.

Married in St. Louis, Mo. on May 6, 1961, they started a family of three children, later moving to Georgia in 1973. They currently enjoy retirement as Ken is a former national account executive with ABF Freight Systems. E.J. and Brenda (Douglas) Carter of Fayetteville will celebrate their 50th anniversary next month.

They were married June 10, 1961 in Alcoa, Tenn., by the late Rev. W. H. Lodwick.

Their family includes children Scott (Melissa) Carter of Fayetteville, Tamara (Jimmy) Fischer of Senoia and Melinda (Rod) Owen of Brooks.
