Betty Joyce Buehl, age 75, of Riverdale

Mrs. Betty Joyce Buehl, of Riverdale, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 18, 2011, at the age of 75.

Mrs. Buehl was a loving mother, sister, grandmother and friend to many. She was a very generous person who was willing to assist others in their times of need, whether it was sitting with those who were ill or preparing special dishes for them in her kitchen. Mr. Lester Ray Duncan, 80, of Newnan, Ga., passed away on Sept. 14, 2011.

Mr. Duncan is a former resident of Lakewood Christian Manor. He retired from Genuine Auto Parts, where he worked as a parts delivery man.

Carl Gilbert Threadgill, (Retired Lieutenant Commander) age 91, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 15, 2011. Another of the Great Generation has left us.

He was born in Bullochville, Ga., to the late George Washington Threadgill, Sr. and Jewell Still Threadgill. He was the son of a Meriwether County farmer. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1940 and served in World War II, Korean and Vietnam wars. Read More»

Mrs. Lawson was a native of Baldwyn, Miss., a former resident of Peachtree City, Ga., having made North Augusta, S.C. her recent home. Norman Cale, 78, of Sharpsburg

Norman Cale, 78, of Sharpsburg, Ga., passed away on Sept. 14, 2011. Norman was a graduate of the University of Alabama and served in the United States Marine Corps. An Eastern Airline captain and avid golfer, Norman had a great life and was well-loved by all who met him. He is preceded in death by his son Kent Cale.

Floyd R. Baldree of Fayetteville

Mr. Floyd R. Baldree of Fayetteville passed away Sept. 12, 2011.  He is survived by his son, Randall Baldree of Fayetteville; daughters, Latrell Stone of Woodbury; Denise Scott and her husband, Ronnie of Newnan; Angela Yarber of Versaille, KY; 12 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. 

Funeral services were held Thursday, Sept. 15, 2011, at 11 o'clock at the Chapel of Parrott Funeral Home with Rev. Allen Waldrop officiating.  Interment followed at Camp Memorial Park.

Reuben Hewell Brown, 80, of Fayetteville

Mr. Reuben Hewell Brown, 80, of Williamson Ga., formerly of Fayetteville, Ga., passed away on Sept. 13, 2011.

Mr. Brown proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War on U.S. Haven, where he served as a medic. After 13 years, he retired from the Fayette County Board of Education. During that time, he oversaw the building of McIntosh High School, Booth Middle School and Sandy Creek High, as well as several others.

Mrs. Rose Neiner, age 93, of Sharpsburg died at her home following a lengthy illness. 

She was born on Jan. 31, 1918 in St. Charles, Mo. to the late Albino Bizelli and Alva Sarah Bishop Bizelli.
