Anni Hammons, 92, of Fayetteville, passed away Thursday, March 7, 2013.

She was born Anna Langhammer in Karlsbad, Czechoslovakia on November 27, 1920. She was the only child of Maria and Fred Langhammer.

After graduation from Business College she worked in the family business for a while. During WWII she and her family fled to Germany where she worked as a teletype operator for the American Army. Alice Louise Horton (Leibel), 96 passed away March 8, 2013, in Peachtree City, Ga.

Born March 11, 1917, in Holt, Mo., to Frank and Faye Leibel, she was raised in Kansas City. She graduated from Southwest High School and attended the Kansas City Business College. In her early career, she worked in the Fox Theater offices and later, in the superintendent's office of the Excelsior Springs' School District.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Horton, her second husband, Robert A. Moberly, her sisters, Mildred Barnes and Jenny Riley. Read More»

Dr. Carmen "Cherry" McDonald-Ashman passed away Feb. 23, 2013.

She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She is lovingly remembered by her two children, Natalie and Sean; her grandchildren, Annalise, Jazzmin, Sean, Jr. and Cierra; her nieces Candice and Stacy; extended family, many friends, colleagues and patients.

She was born and raised in Fayette County.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Oliver and their son, Ray.

She is survived by her daughter, Ann (Ray) Mitchell of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Patricia, Billy, Jay, Jamie, Trent and Stephanie; 10 great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
