Mildred Colley Moore, 85, of Fayetteville

Mildred Colley Moore, 85, of Fayetteville, died June 7, 2010.

She was a member of the White County Historical Society. Her love for Hawaiian music was showcased in the Atlanta area by playing for the troops and a WSB radio in the early 1940s.

Mrs. Moore was preceded in death by husband Harold E. Moore, sister Elizabeth Bishop and brother Eugene Colley, Jr. She is survived by her sisters Mary Helen Colley Bryan of Newnan and Marjorie Colley Volmar of Fayetteville and several nieces and nephews. Read More»

The home-going celebration for Mrs. Margaret Cleo Smith Berry, age 94, of Union City, GA. will be Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Carl J. Mowell & Son Fayetteville Chapel.

James Lewis “Jay” Jackson, Jr. passed away on Friday, June 4, 2010.

He was born on March 23, 1970. Jay was a 1988 graduate of Fayette County High School and a graduate of West Georgia University. He was employed by the Fulton County Board of Education as a special needs teacher. An avid golfer, Jay enjoyed playing golf with and being with his golfing buddies. Mrs. Lois Virginia Leggett, 79, of Fayetteville, passed away on June 3, 2010.

Mrs. Leggett was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Freeman.

She is survived by her daughters, Patsy Newberry and her husband Otis of Fayetteville, and Linda Brooks and her husband Terry of Tyrone; son, Steve Freeman of Tyrone; grandchildren, Rich, Dawn, Jody, Keith and Leslie; five great-grandchildren; sister, Bobbie Dykes; and brother, Carlton Johnson. Matilda E. Barrett (Viehmann), 84, passed away on June 2, 2010 at her home in Peachtree City, GA.

She was born in Richmond Hill, New York on November 24, 1925. She lived on Long Island for 35 years before moving to Peachtree City in 1985. She attended Holy Trinity Catholic Church where she was an active parishioner before taking ill in her later years. Read More»

Thomas Leslie Hix, passed away May 20, 2010 and his wife of 43 years Dorothy Elaine Hix, passed away 14 days later on June 3, 2010, both of Senoia.

Survivors include daughters and son in laws Cynthia Elaine & Paul Harrison of Senoia; Cheryl & Mark Grindle of Senoia; grandchildren Lance Harrison, Kelly Grindle, and Ryan Grindle.

Mr. John Roland Hardy Truelsen, 89

Mr. John Roland Hardy Truelsen, 89, of Mulberry, Florida, passed away on June 2, 2010.

Mr. Truelsen received a bachelor’s degree from Brown University and later became a captain in the Marines during WWII. After 40 years of service with Norton Company, he retired and they relocated to Lakeland, FL where he enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his friends and family. Read More»

Curtis Jackson, 94, of Fayetteville, died June 2, 2010.

He served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Pacific. Mr. Jackson retired from the FAA, Southern Region.
