Murray Pritchett

Mr. Murray Pritchett, age 84, of Union City, Ga., passed away Saturday, December 21, 2013.

Mr. Pritchett worked for the Atlanta Fire Department and was an aide to five chiefs for 16 years and owned a Gulf Service Station at Hartsfield Atlanta Airport for 28 years. He is preceded in death by his wife Amy Pritchett and is survived by two children Elizabeth Avera and Marshall Pritchett and wife Anna all of Fayetteville; grandchildren Jessica Eberhardt, Christine Cole, Holly and Michael Avera, and great grandchildren Gabrielle and Tyler Cole. Charles Everett Groover, 57 of Fayetteville

Charles Everett “Chuck” Groover, 57, passed away at his home in Fayetteville, Ga. on Thursday, December 12, 2013.

He is survived by his mother, DeLane Spradlin Groover, his son, David Gregory Groover, brother, Gregory Mark, and brother, Kenneth David and his wife, Venus; nieces Ashley Groover Houchins and husband, Clint and Nicole Groover Francis and husband Scott as well as numerous cousins and friends. Calvin R. McCully, 83, of Fayetteville

Calvin "Mac" R. McCully, 83, of Fayetteville, passed away December 11, 2013.

He served in the US Army during the Korean and Vietnam Wars and retired a Major after 20 years. He then worked for the Department of Army as a civilian for another 20 years before retiring from there. He was an active polling officer in Fayette County and was a Piedmont Fayette Hospital Auxiliary volunteer.

Helen Graves, 87, of Fayetteville, passed away December 12, 2013.

She was a long-time member of Fayetteville First Baptist Church. She retired with over 30 years of service with the State of GA Department of Health and Human Resources. She also volunteered at Piedmont Fayette Hospital Auxiliary for over 10 years.

The woman who typed General Dwight D. Eisenhower’s final orders authorizing the June 6, 1944 D-Day Normandy invasion in World War II died Dec. 3 in Fayetteville.

Helen Kogel Denton, 91, who kept that secret even from her husband of nearly four decades, was buried in the Jonesboro City Cemetery on Dec. 7, 2013, Pearl Harbor Day.

Geraldine Moss, age 66

Geraldine “Gerry” Moss passed away December 3, 2013.  She was born in New York on December 20, 1946, the daughter of Wilma Riley and Stanley Moss.

Gerry retired from Delta Airlines and later worked for Keller Williams. She is survived by nephews and cousins.

Jack Nolan Thomas, age 71

Mr. Jack Nolan Thomas, age 71, died on December 8, 2013.

He was born in the Noah Community of Manchester, Tenn. on February 22, 1942, to the late Robert Leland Thomas and Rose Adeline Thomas. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Laura Gale Thomas.

Surviving are his wife of 32 years, Alice Thomas, his sister Wanda Lou Hannah, his five daughters, Traci, Kelly, Tara Nicole, Jenifer, and Lara, and a multitude of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

John Joseph Trum, Sr. age 54 of Newnan, passed away December 7, 2013.

He was born on November 28, 1959 in Elizabeth, N.J. to the late Martin and Jean Golda Trum. Mr. Trum worked in the aviation field for over 30 years.
