Daniel Lee Williams, 88, of Riverdale

Daniel Lee Williams, 88, of Riverdale passed away on April 20, 2011.

Mr. Williams was born in Woolsey, GA. He served his country as a decorated Army Veteran of World War II serving in 5 European campaigns including the Normandy invasion. He is retired from Ft. Gillem and AAFES. He also served his community as a City Councilman for the City of Riverdale, Master of Riverdale Masonic Lodge and Deacon of Riverdale First Baptist Church.

Joyce Delores Entrekin Harris, 74, of Peachtree City, Georgia, became an angel on Sunday, April 10, 2011, after a courageous ten year battle with Ovarian Cancer.   The daughter of Margaret and Clifford Gartrell (C.G.) Entrekin, Jr., Joyce was born on November 7, 1936, in Carrollton, Georgia.  In 1955, Joyce graduated from Carrollton High School, where she was a varsity cheerleader.

Jesse Outlar, retired sports editor of The Atlanta Constitution

The popular sports writer, Jesse Outlar, passed away Saturday, April 9, 2011 to go to what he called the Big Sleep.

Outlar was born to Jesse P. Outlar and Lois Mangham in Finleyson, Georgia. The family settled in Omega where Outlar started his love affair with newspapers and sports. He had his own route at the age of seven delivering the Atlanta Journal, Atlanta Constitution and the Jacksonville Times-Union. He dreamed of writing the stories of the sports heroes he’d hurry home to read about after each morning’s deliveries. Read More»
