Marion C. Handley

Marion C. Handley, 84, Fayetteville, died Jan. 30, 2010. He was preceded in death by a son, Steven Handley. He had served in the United States Air Force in the Pacific Theatre in World War II. He was graduated from Concord College, Athens, W. Va., in 1960. He began working for Delta Air Lines in 1960 and later retired in 1990 as a flight controller. William Francis Miret

William Francis “Bill” Miret, 64, died Feb. 2, 2010, from complications associated with a third battle against cancer. He was preceded in death by his father, Francis W. Miret and a brother-in-law, Jerry Bopp. He was born May 8, 1945 in Lynn, Mass. and raised in Revere’s Point of Pines. He attended school at Immaculate Conception and then Southeastern University. Julia Glynn Brown, 92, Fayetteville, died Feb. 3, 2010. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ira Wilson Brown. Graveside services were at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, College Park, with the Rev. Dr. Jim Willis officiating.

Survivors include daughters, Faye and Chuck Wheeler, Fayetteville, and Sue and Bill Standifer, Fairburn; great-grandchildren, Drew, Chase, Savannah, Sabrinah, Summer, and Skylar. Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville, was in charge.

Sarah Louise Threadgill

Sarah Louise Threadgill, 87, Fayetteville, died Feb. 4, 2010. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, and three sisters. She was an active member of Fayette Presbyterian Church and a founder of the “Memorial Garden” at the church. Services were at the Fayette Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Cliff Haddox officiating. Cynthia S. Whiteman, 55, Newnan, died Jan. 27, 2010. She had taught school in Clayton County for 30 years. During her teaching career she was frequently voted the Most Outstanding Teacher of the Year for her school. She was preceded in death by her mother, Gloria Edwards Sylvester in 1985. Arnold Lamar Hasty Sr. 

Arnold Lamar Hasty Sr. 78, Senoia, died Jan. 28, 2010. He was a former mayor of Riverdale. He was preceded in death by brothers, Alex Hasty, and Bill Hasty. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with interment at the Senoia City Cemetery. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Juanita Hasty, Senoia; sons, Lamar and Glenda Hasty, Fayetteville, Russell and Pam Hasty, Tennessee, and Bradley and Aleyn Hasty, Senoia; six grandchildren; and a sister, Valmon Henson, Canton. Ministry cofounder dies unexpectedly

A Better Way Ministries co-director Tony Ingram passed away unexpectedly Sunday night.

A Better Way founder John Barrow said Monday that cofounder and musician Tony Ingram died Sunday night of what is believed to have been a heart attack. Ingram is survived by a wife and two small children.

Barrow said Ingram was a director and one of three charter members of the ministry that opened its doors five years ago. Read More»
