Interfaith luncheon

Approximately 75 guests attended the luncheon, including Methodists, Islamics, Presbyterians, Lutherans, and Catholics.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints held its second interfaith luncheon as a thank you to all those who contributed to the summer lunch program last summer. The program provides lunches to children who have been on the free/reduced lunch program during the school year. An average of 750-800 lunches were made and delivered each day to Fayette County residents primarily, with the exception of one mobile home park just across the county line in Fulton County. Providence UMC’s motorcycle rally set for October 23 - 26

Bikers, it’s not too late to join the 2nd annual, “rally4thekidz,” an Oct. 23-26 motorcycle rally hosted by Providence United Methodist Church to raise funds for kidz2leaders, Inc.

Riders from the southside of Atlanta will leave from Providence at 9 a.m. on Oct. 23 to meet up with the rest of the group at Mt. Bethel UMC in Marietta. The group will ride from Marietta to their home base for the weekend, the Iron Horse Motorcycle Lodge in Stecoah, N.C.

Throughout the weekend bikers will ride famous motorcycle routes, including Tail of the Dragon and the Cherohala Skyway. Read More»

Sharon Ann Benedict of Fayetteville

Sharon Ann Benedict of Fayetteville, Ga., passed away October 4, 2014.

She is survived by her sister Doris Robbins of Fayetteville; nephew Edward Vaccaro of Fayetteville and three great nephews. 

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at 1 p.m. at the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville. Chaplain Dan Hale will officiate.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 11 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Reindl tapped for director of children's mininstries

Providence will bless the animals Saturday

Providence United Methodist Church invites members of the community to bring their favorite furry or feathered friends and come out for a special blessing on Saturday, Oct. 4 from 9:30-11:30 a.m.

Providence’s associate pastor, the Rev. Kory Trinrud, explains, “We are offering a blessing to these animal companions because in them we are reminded of the love God has for us and the wonder that is to be found in creation.”

Curry to speak at luncheon Tuesday

Atlanta resident and writer Ann Curry will discuss her biography, Suffer and Grow Strong, The Life of Ella Gertrude Clanton Thomas, 1834-1907, at the Oct. 7 luncheon meeting of Titus II at Fayetteville First United Methodist Church. The event will be held in the Family Life Center at noon.

Tickets are $6 and can be reserved by calling the church office at 770-461-4313 by Oct. 2.

Curry has devoted more than 25 years studying Thomas’s 41-year diary of 450,000 words to chronicle her life.

Fellowship of Love Church (FOLC) in Fayetteville recently donated $2,500 to Fayette Senior Services as a contribution towards its building expansion fund. The donation is part of the 2014 Empowerment Package FOLC is awarding to Fayette Senior Services and is valued at approximately $7,500.
