Holocaust remembrance service set for April 7

Benjamin L. Abramowitz will be the featured speaker at the annual Holocaust Remembrance Service (Yom Ha’Shoah) at Congregation B’Nai Israel (CBI) on April 7 at 4 p.m.

Col. Abramowitz (now retired) saw the effects of the Holocaust after World War II and personally witnessed the Nuremberg trials. He has titled his reflections as “The Holocaust Through the Eyes of a 12-Year-Old.”

This is the tenth annual service shared by CBI and Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church in Peachtree City. Its aim is to remind all of the horrors of the Holocaust to prevent its ever happening again. Read More»

Preschool Open House planned

Kids on the Lane, the Mother’s Day Out program at Carriage Lane Presbyterian Church, is now enrolling for the summer and fall sessions. An Open House is planned for April 20 from 10 a.m. until noon. For information, email kidsonthelane@carriagelanepres.org or call 770-631-1841.

Real Life Center moves to new location in Peachtree City

Prince of Peace Lutheran hosts parenting course beginning April 9

Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Fayetteville invites the community to “Becoming a Love and Logic Parent” presented by Judi Knowles, independent facilitator, each Tuesday from April 9 to May 21, from 9:30-11:30 a.m.

The cost is $10 to cover the workbook. Couples may share.

This seven module parenting course, developed by the Love and Logic Institute, was designed to help find specific answers and actions for some of those difficult moments in child rearing. These simple techniques are effective with all children, from toddlers to teens. Read More»

Council 8081, Knights of Columbus at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Peachtree City recently provided weekly Lenten dinners for church members. Help came from the Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, St. Vincent de Paul with food and help, the Night Shelter with mac and cheese every week, and help and food from Father Rico’s Columbian Mission, Shepherds of the Meek. With Easter just a few days away, Christians all over the world are busy preparing for the celebration of Christ’s resurrection on Easter Sunday, which falls this year on March 31. Some celebrate all week, (Holy Week) from the triumphant entry of Christ into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, to his last supper with the Apostles on Maundy Thursday, through somber services (Tenebrae) observing his trial and tragic death on the cross on Good Friday, and ending with the joyous celebration of his resurrection on Easter Sunday. A Lenten Retreat for women was held at the Cathedral of Christ the King, Sharpsburg, with the theme, “Opening Our Hearts to the Father.” The retreat leader was Bonnie Barr, an associate professor of nursing at the University of West Georgia, who is also the president of the Jehovah Rapha Chapter of the International Order of St. Luke the Physician.
